Ice Age 2: the Meltdown | The ice caps are melting and the herd must escape from a watery death by finding an ark that will float them to safety. | The original Ice Age was a fun simple film that had some great characters. Ice Age 2 is still fun but the great characters felt under written and the new characters where over the top silly. There's some good laughs and children and adults will find something to enjoy. A light hearted fun film for all ages. | |
Stay Alive | A cursed video game that the players die in real life if they die in the game. | This is one of the worst movies of the year. The story is stupid and doesn't even follow its own rules. Pure waste of film. | |
Ultraviolet | In the future, a vampire like virus spreads and humans destroy everyone who contracts the virus. Violet who's a soldier who has the virus want to find a cure and finds a child who holds the secret to a possible cure. | A fun outrageous sci-fi. The action is like nothing else. High energy fun. The special effects are a little too animated at times, but it doesn't ruin the movie. The plot has some twists but it feels we're missing something. A good fun sci-fi action and worth checking out. | |
Date Movie | A parody on date movies; A young girl working in her fathers Greek restaurant gets a make over and meets the man of her dreams and prepares for her wedding while his past girlfriend tries to break them up. | This is one of those parodies that could be good. But instead Date Movie tries to copy the funny moments from the good films this movie is making fun off. There's also jokes on movies that feel out of place in this film. This movie is embarrassing more then funny. | |
The Pink Panther | A soccer coach is killed and his Diamond ring has vanished. And Inspector Clouseau is on the case. A bumbling clumsy idiot who thinks he the best. | While Steve Martin does a nice job as Clouseau he's now where near Peter Sellers. The new version feels like a mix between The Pink Panther and A Shot In The Dark. Its silly, its campy, its Clouseau. It's slap shtick fun. While a step down from Peter Sellers its a step up from last two Pink Panther films without Sellers. | |
Final Destination 3 | Several high school kids survive a horrible roller coaster accident and are hunted down by death. But pictures taken that night hold clues to their demise and might help them prevent them from dying. | While the roller coaster crash is a high tense rush. The rest of the movie is basically the same movie we saw in FD 1 & 2. There's really nothing new added to the story. If you've seen one FD film you've seen them all. | |
Aeon Flux | After a virus kills 90% of the worlds population, the survivors are gathered together in one city and a small band of rebels want to know the truth to why they cant leave the city. | Based on an animated movie from MTV, Aeon Flux the movie lacks the strange visuals the cartoon had. The characters are dull and robotic. The story has some nice twists but it feels its lacking characters to make this a great sci-fi. Maybe a rental at best. | |
Underworld: Evolution | Selene the vampire returns to end the war of vampires and werewolf's. An ancient vampire is resurrected and hunts down selene and her werewolf friend to release his werewolf brother. | While an upgrade from the original Underworld, especially in the action. The characters still lack in performance and the story is pretty basic. Its a fun action movie that offers little else. | |
When a Stranger Calls | A baby-sitter gets harassing calls from a killer hiding in the house. | This movie is a long drawn out waste of time. The film is an hour of a horrible acted character who is afraid of picking of a phone. The a mess of chaos that leads to nothing. If When a Stranger Call is calling you, don't pick it up. | |
Bloodrayne | based on the video game, A young vampire escapes from a carnival to hunt down her kind by joining a group of vampire hunters. | This movie was full of laugh, but the problem is your not supposed to laugh at this a movie. Ben Kingsley must have been drugged to accept this role. He sure acted like he was as the head vampire. If you want to see a HORRIBLE movie to laugh at, bloodrayne is it. | |
Munich | After a terrorist attack at the 1972 Olympics, a group or secret Israeli agents hunt down those responsible of this horrible crime. | Steven Speilburg has made another spectacular movie. Munich is a high intense drama with great characters and performances. A must see. | |
King Kong | To save his failing career, a director travels to find an uncharted island to film his movie but finds out the island is inhabited by a primitive tribe, Dinosaur's, giant bugs and a giant gorilla named Kong. | Two Words; TOO LONG. The three hour film took forever to get the big ape to New York. The first hour is just them getting to the island, then the next hour and half is a Jurassic Park movie and the last thirty minutes is probably the best part of the movie. The action with the Kong and the T-Rex was fun and the New York Chaos was cool, but every thing else was slow moving and sometimes pointless. This version was okay, but it needed to have more cut and leave it for extras on a DVD. | |
Chronicles of Narnia: The Loin, The Witch, and the Wardrobe | Four children are sent away to escape a war ravaged Europe. But find a wardrobe cabinet that leads them to a fantasy world where it is destined they would save Narnia from an evil witch. | Narnia is a classic tale that in the hands of a more visual director would have been an instant classic. But Narnia is way to childish for my taste. When Santa Claus shows up to deliver their weapons this film started to lose me. The Witch was also vary bland and forgettable as a villain. The Biblical references where a nice touch and special effects where top notch and if I was ten years old I would have loved Narnia more. | |
Aeon Flux | After a virus wipes out 90% of the earth's population, the survivors are confined to one city where a band of rebels fight to overthrow a dictator and become free of the cities walls. | Based on a MTV animated series in the early 90's, Aeon Flux a stange sci-fi tale with a nice twist. But the characters are dull, the story seems rushed and needed another rewrite. The action is okay, but nothing in the movie really stood out. Aeon Flux could have been a great action sci-fi, instead it's just a forgetible action movie. | |
Walk the Line | The life of Johnny Cash, How a simple cotton farmer's son rise to fame battling drug addiction and getting the love of his life June Carter to love him back. | Joaquin Phoenix did a marvelous performance as the man in black, You really believe your watching Cash. And You cant forget Reese Witherspoon as June Carter. This is a great film with top performances. A must see. | |
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire | Harry is mysteriously entered into a tournament that will test him beyond anything he's ever faced before. But an evil force is using the tournament to give rebirth to Voldemort. | The Harry Potter movies continue to hold up as great films for both kids and adults. While this is a more darker Potter, but its also an older potter. All the cast returns and still hold true as their characters. The story is more simpler then the last potter but it still a great addition to the series. I really hope thay are able to keep all the cast for the next three films. | |
Jarhead | A soldiers life before, during and after the first desert storm war. | A great mar movie where nobody fires a single shot. If your looking for a high action war movie, Jarhead isnt it. Its a soldiers life, the hell of bootcamp, the waiting of an enemy and the scare of having toxic gas dropped on you. A Sniper waiting for his kill, his glory as a soldier. Jarhead is the best bootcamp movie sence Full Metal Jacket. A great movie that welcomes you to the suck. | |
Saw 2 | The jigsaw killer is caught, but he has several people trapped in a house and must play the game in order to escape. Including the son of a police detective who also must play the game to save his son. | The original Saw is a horror movie to remember, a gruesome tale about a killer who sets traps to his victims and if they don’t sole the puzzle they die. Then ends with one of the most memorable twist endings in movie history. Saw 2 is a good continuation of the Jigsaw killer but its far from topping the original. The plot is good and has a few twists by the end that hold up to the first Saw. The characters do well for the most part, but at times the victims act a little stupid to finding an obvious escape. (Maybe it was the gas effecting them, ya we’ll say that) I can recommend Saw 2 only if you’ve seen the first one. Don’t watch this movie until you see the original, then check out Saw 2. | |
The Weather Man | A Chicago weather man dreams on getting a job on a nationwide morning show but struggles to rekindle is failed marriage and get closer to his children. | Nicolas cage pulls off another great performance as the poor guy who tries hard but cant catch a break. Michael Caine is also wonderful as Cage's father. This is one of those great characters films that will make you laugh and care about these people. A great movie worth checking out. | |
Waiting ... | The day in the life of employees of a family restaurant and how their job really sucks. | It’s Clerks in a restaurant but with out the cleaver dialog and great characters. If you ever worked in the food serving business this film is a must see, a simple story about poeple who hate their job and find strange ways to make it through the day. If people act this way in restaurants you’ll think twice about ticking off your waiter. Hate your job, watch Clerks, Office Space and then check out Waiting.... | |
Doom | Soldiers are called to investigate a mysterious disappearance of scientists from a lab on the planet Mars, only to discover theres evil monsters have taken over and then must not let them through the portal to Earth. | The curse continues, video game movies suck. And Doom goes near to the top as one of the worst. The story was changed and barely is anything like the game. It wasnt even scarey. The Rock was horrible and there was nothing in this movie even worth my time. Aviod. | |
Domino | The Tale of a Female Bounty Hunter who helps hunt down millions of dollars stolen from a mod boss. All while being on a Bounty Hunter reality TV show. | While the character Domino was a cool character, the rest of the movie was a mess. The Director was everywhere with this movie, I got dizzy trying to keep up at times. The plot is simple and has a nice twist, this film will have your head spinning at where its taking you. At times your confused, not sure what's going on. Domino is a renter at best. | |
History of Violence | A simple man in a small town gets fame when he kills two murders who hold up his café. But a mysterious man appears claiming he a killing machine for the mob and what him to return to the big city. | This had to be the most bloody film I’ve seen in a long time. But gore aside, the plot was a lot simpler one than I hoped but in all it doesnt ruin the movie. I loved the realistic feel and subtleness to the whole movie, except the sex scenes felt a tad over the top. A light recommendation for the History of Violance. | |
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit | A monster threatens to destroy all the towns prize vegetables and Wallace & Gromit are hired by the towns people to find the monster before the big vegetable festival. | A masterpiece, a classic for the entire family. You cant help but love this movie. The humor are funny for both children and adults. You’ll laugh from start to finish and want more by the end. If you’ve never seen the original three shorts of Wallace & Gromit, they are just as fun as this move. Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a must see. | |
Serenity | A rogue spaceship takes aboard a human weapon that the government doesn't want anyone to know her secrets. | This is based on a cult TV series called "Firefly" and after seeing the movie I can see why. While the film has a TV budget with TV special effects and TV writing. The characters and the story do work, Serenity was a joy to watch. Serenity is a fun sci-fi worth lightly checking out. | Now on DVD |
Corpse Bride | A young man in an arranged marriage, accidentally marries a corpse of a murdered bride to be and has to choose between the land of the dead or the living. | Visually a masterpiece. I great grim original fairy tale that is an instant classic. Great neurotic characters and fun for all. If you loved Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride is a must see. | |
Flightplan | An airplane engineer daughter mysteriously vanishes while in flight and no one on board believes she ever brought a young girl on the plane. | Jodie Foster is what makes this basic idea into a good movie. The plot has some turbulence but it keeps you entertained. I just expected a more advanced reason for her Daughter's Disappearance. Flightplan is a fun suspense worth checking out. | |
Lord or War | An arms dealer smuggles weapons into Africa to make a fortune on the death of others. | Nicolas Cage makes another wonderful performance in a great political film. How a simple man become a gun runner and makes a fortune on other peoples wars. The characters and story will draw you in and you cant help but feel out raged that this kind of thing goes on. A must see. | |
The Exorcism of Emily Rose | A priest is put on trail for the wrongful death of a girl he performed an exorcism on and a defense lawyer puts her career at stake to prove his innocents. | This is not a horror movie, its a courtroom drama with some freaky moments. The characters are well acted and you cant help but be drawn into this case. I would have liked to see more on Emily that leads to her death other then here say. But this doesn't ruin the story at all. Emily Rose is worth checking out as a good courtroom drama. | |
Transporter 2 | The transporter works for a senator to drive his son to school, but when the boy is kidnapped he vows to find those responsible. | I really can't believe they made a sequel to this movie. Transporter was a forgettable action movie with a few fun moments. But Trans2 is pure junk. The plot is something out of an old 80s cartoon with horrible special effects and stupid characters. The action scenes are ridiculous and pointless. Trans2 is a waste of time. | |
The 40 Year Old Virgin | A 40 year old virgin sets out to get laid with the help of his coworkers from an electronics store. | If you love gross out comedies that are about sex, this is the film to see. The characters are entertaining, most all the jokes work and you'll be laughing all the way to the end. You'll hurt from laughing so hard in some scenes. This is not a dumb teenager movie about sex, it's an intelligent comedy that you cant help but love. A must see if you want a good laugh. | Now on DVD |
The Dukes of Hazzard | The good ol' boys must find out why Boss Hogg frames Uncle Jesse and steals his land before they destroy their Uncles home. | This film is another one of those unoriginal campy TV shows turned into an even stupider movie. This movie might have worked if it was more making fun of the classic series then just makes a campy made for TV plot. The film has few laughs and the characters do nothing to stand out over the original TV actors. I think the only people who will enjoy this film is just those who want to see Jessica Simpson in her Daisy Dukes, other then that this film has nothing to offer. | Now on DVD |
The Devils Rejects | After a raid on the farm house where a murderous family live. Three of the clan escape and search for a new home but a lone cop vows revenge on the killers for his slain brother. | Rejects is a step up from House of a 1000 Corpses, but only baby steps. These movie really is nothing but watch crazy people kill and torture other crazy people. The plot is paper thin, and all the characters are psycho. Rob Zombie has shown a lot of improvement as a director but not as a story teller. | Now on DVD |
The Island | After a nuclear disaster, the survivors are kept from the outside world and taken care of by those who run the sanctuary. But there's an Island where those who win a lottery give to live and become free of the walled in gates and away from the toxic world. | The Island is one of those movies that you only enjoy if you don't think about the plot. It's almost Logan's Run remake with great action. Island is a cool sci-fi, but its fast camera action and goofy plot twists makes the film only a dumb action movie then an intelligent sci-fi thriller. Island is only a quick escape into a wild action movie with nothing in between. | Now on DVD |
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory | Five kids find golden tickets to tour Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and find out just how strange this factory has become. | The classic tale told with a new twist. Johnny Depp has made Wonka one of the most enjoyable characters. Depp makes this movie a classic all over again. The wild new visuals make is film a fun ride that you don't want to end. It's silly, goofy and funny and for this film, it works. A film that all ages can enjoy. A must see. | Now on DVD |
Fantastic Four | After a science project aboard a space station goes wrong, five people gain super powers. four ban together to find a cure, while one is bent on revenge. | Ugh, F4 should have been a TV movie of the week. This film felt like an episode of Mutant X instead of a blockbuster summer movie. The acting and dialog is beyond horrible. there is no story and it's two hours of super heroes showing of their powers. And worst of all Doom (he's not a Doctor in this film) He makes my worst villain ever list. He's horribly cast and he's boring. Torch and Thing are the only two characters that mildly stand out. Land of the Dead | The world is over run with the dead and the few survivors are held in a city fenced off from the living dead. But the dead are getting smarter and find ways to enter the secure city. | Wanna see zombies use machine guns and fight (stupid) living people for their right to exist? Then this dumb dead movie is for you. The movie's dumb plot, characters and dialog is something only a zombie can enjoy. Go rent Night or Dawn and forget this garbage. | Now on DVD |
Batman Begins | The birth of a legendary super hero, Bruce Wayne travels to the a remote land to learn the ways of the ninja and returns to Gotham City to become Batman. | One of the best comic book movies ever. The new Batman makes the caped crusader more realistic. Batmen is more dark and Christian Bale is awesome as the new Batman and the story and plot takes it seriously. This is a new refreshing Batman and hope the series keeps this new dark realistic feel. | Now on DVD |
Mr. & Mrs. Smith | Two top assassins who are married to each other and don't know it until they find each other at the same target then end up finding each other as their next target. | This movie is so predictable from beginning to the vary end. The plot is a "only in Hollywood" tale, where a team of assassins ate nothing but beautiful models with James bond gadgets and they can take an army of killers out in the middle of the city and no one notices. But the characters and humor does make Smith enjoyable on a leave your brain at the door level. Smith is an okay night at the movies, just don't expect anything original. | Now on DVD |
Cinderella Man | A boxer at the top of his game goes broke after the great depression of the 1920s but gets a second chance as the fighter that can over come anything. | Russell Crow cannot make a bad film. This is the feel good movie of the summer. Your in tears at times. The movie is (like any sport film) predicable for the most part, but these characters and their struggle to survive the great depression drive this movie into a great story. Madagascar | Four Central Park Zoo animals get their chance at living in the wild due to some diabolical Penguins. | Madagascar is an enjoyable movie the whole family can enjoy. There many movie references that the adults will snicker at while the kids left clueless. The only complaint I can give the movie is the lack of the two best characters screen time. The Penguins and the Monkeys. These characters stole the movie for me, I wanted to see more. This is a great film the whole family just beware of the Penguins. | Now on DVD |
Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith | The series is complete as Anakin slowly falls to the dark side as Obi-Wan hunts down a cyborg general to end the clone wars. | While Ep3 is a wild ride from beginning to the end, the movie is fast paced and hardly stops for a second from its action. It's also has many flaws. The story feels rushed and the acting is horrible at times, but Star Wars isn't about the acting so we'll let this slide. There's no real surprise twists that I was hoping for, its pretty straight forward and to the point. I loved the movie just a great night at the movies. I really wish Lucas would get help writing and directing. Ep3 is no Empire by far. but it's a good conclusion to the series. | Now on DVD |
Unleashed | A man raised like a dog to fight and kill on command escapes his master and a blind piano player shows him he can live a normal life. | While this far fetched story is tough to swallow at times, the action and characters make the move enjoyable. Jet Li does a good job as the man raised like a dog and his character makes you want to see more. Morgan Freedman also does well as the blind piano teacher. but the supporting cast are a little over the top at times and the plot pretty much formula. But it's enjoyable enough to lightly recommend. | Now on DVD |
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy | The earth is destroyed to make way for a intergalatic bypass, but his best friend is an alien to who gives him a guide on how to survive in the galaxy. | This a great sci-fi spoof and is full of laughs. The only problem with the film is it's rushed and way too short. Hitchhiker's is a great book and should get it's full two hours. But that aside it's a fun thrill ride and many of the classic moments from the book are in the movie. If you have any more questions about this movie, the answer is 42. that's all you need to know. | Now on DVD |
Kung-Fu Hustle | A gang of thugs named the Axe Gang start a war against a landlord and her people who live in the slums. But the Axe Gang learn that these people are kung-fu masters and send out assassins to kill the masters. | This movie is insane fun. Kung-Fu Hustle is pure enjoyment to watch. The action is way over the top, its like watching a wild cartoon. Fung-fu is also a laugh, at times you'll bust a gut. This is a perfect great time at the movies fun. | Now on DVD |
The Interpreter | A United Nations interpreter overhears the plot to assassinate a cruel dictator that plans to speak at the U.N. but a Secret Service agent thinks her past has something to hide. | Interpreter has some great acting talent, but the plot and story has a lot of flaws. There's many unanswered questions, it's vary predicable and the film runs way to long. Interpreter is an okay thriller but nothing that stands out. | Now on DVD |
The Amityville Horror | A family moves into a huge house that was the deal of a life time. But a whole family was murdered in the house and evil spirits torment the new occupants. | The original Amityville is a horror classic, and its remake is an insult to the classic tale. This version tries too hard to be like the Ring and the Grudge where you see creepy ghosts that are mostly cheap scares. This version adds a stupid back story of why this ghost is evil that's worse then some B-films. Want to see this classic horror tale? rent the original and pass on this horrible remake. | Now on DVD |
Sahara | A treasure hunter looking for a civil war ship believed lost in the Sahara desert finds him self saving helping a doctor save the world by finding the cause the a plague. | This is one of the action Indiana Jones wannabe that is nothing but a forgettable action movie. It's forgettable characters and it's "oh wasn't that convenient" plot makes this a bland story about saving the world from a virus with a treasure hunt in the background. there's a few fun action scenes but nothing to write home about. Sin City | Three stories of the people who live in Sin City; A cop who saves a young girl from a killer, A big thug who seeks revenge on the people responsible for killing the only woman who made him happy, and the story of a gang of hookers who fight to keep the piece between them and the law. | One of the best comic book movies ever made! Sin City is a gritty fun action trill ride with some of the best dialog. Great dark characters that haven't been seen sense Pulp Fiction. The black & white with a hint of color really makes this movie stand out like nothing seen before. Sin City is a MUST SEE! | Now on DVD |
The Ring Two | The video tape follows Rachel Keller to a small town and the evil within wants to live again by taking her son's body. | Did this movie even have to be made? The story is a drab and boring with a recycled plot line. The original Ring is a classic, while Ring Two is just stupid excuse to make a sequel. This movie is straight to video bad. Hostage | After three teens break into a house to steal a car, they find them selves locked inside and take the occupants hostage. But the man they take hostage works for the mofhia and they take a local cops family hostage until they get what's in that house. | Hostage is enjoyable for the most part. A decent story that's keeps you wanting to see it's end. The plot is predictable at times, and there's a couple plot holes. but they don't ruin the movie to much to enjoy. Robots | A young robot dreams of becoming an inventor and sets out to meet the head robot that makes all the parts that keeps all the robots in the world running. But an evil robot CEO wants to sell his upgrades and those who cant buy his upgrades will become scrap metal. | Robots is a wonderful looking film, it's like old toys come to life and the details this film has is outstanding. The characters and story are also a lot of fun. There are times the humor is campy and overall Robots don't doesn't hold up to most other computer animated films. The Jacket | A man is commented to an institution for the criminally insane and becomes a test rat for a strange therapy by locking him into a morgue drawer for hours. But he discovers he can see the future and tries to change things to come. | This movie reminds me a lot of the butterfly effect. But this story is about changing the future instead of the past. The story is cool, the characters are well acted, but there's some parts of the film that is unfulfilled. The characters that did these horrible things to this character nothing happens too. I liked The Jacket, but felt like it was missing something to be a great movie. | Now on DVD |
Cursed | After a wolf attack, two teens believe they are becoming werewolves and a series of animal attacks makes them think there's real monster on the loose and maybe a cure to their curse. | Is this a horror or a comedy? Cursed is a horrible embarrassment to all werewolf films. The plot feels like a bad episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and everyone is an idiot. Pass on this cursed film. | Now on DVD |
Constantine | In a world where heaven and hell fight through influance to rule mankind. A dying demon hunter investiates a mysterious suicide who is some how linked to demons appearing in the city. | While Keanu Reeves is a little overacted at times, the story and different look at heaven and hell makes the movie and enjoyable film. The twists work and its strange look at hell is really unque. I liked Constantine as a twisted comic book style film. | Now on DVD |
The Boogeyman | A young boy watches his father get taken by the Boogeyman and grows up living in fear of closets and dark places. He returns to his childhood home to face his fears and learns if there really is a Boogeyman. | This films is a wreck. The first hour plus is the longest bore you'll ever see. Seeing a guy slowing opening doors and getting cheap scares that make no sense or pointless gets really old. The movie turns to a silly monster movie and ends. The dialog is laughable, characters are dull and the plot is confusing. Throw this movie in a dark closet corner and forget it ever existed. | Now on DVD |
Hide and Seek | A troubled little girl withdraws herself from others after the death of her mother. Her father takes her to a small town and tries to start life over again but a mysterious invisible friend wont let them forget their past. | While Robert Diniro and Dakota Fanning are great actors, the film is slow moving and the plot is unbelievable. I liked the characters, but the "invisible friend" mystery fell short of what this movie could have been. H&S tries hard to have a wild twist, but it just feels forced. A paranormal detective is looking for answers about his past by investigating creatures that hide in the dark. | This film is a mess, to plot is a disaster, acting is catwoman bad and the characters are beyond dull. Electra | Electra is resurrected and becomes a professional assassin, but when she cant kill her target, she ends up defending them from a team of demon assassins. | A spinoff from Daredevil, Electra is a decent comic book movie, but far from a great action movie. The heroes keep you watching, but the plot and villains are rushed and forgettable. The demon assassins had some cool abilities they just where under written. Electra is far better then Catwoman, but not worthy to become a classic. | Now on DVD |
