Midway has always been known for their wild arcade racers. So now Midway has a Snowmobile racer.
It’s Called Arctic Thunder, a snowmobile race of total chaos.

You choose one of 19 characters and race one of 12 wild tracks.
Tracks include; DC after a horrible blizzard, Chernobyl, Swiss Alps, China, Atlantis, A UFO invasion in the mountains, A Halloween theme track and a snow theme park to name a few.
There are many hidden shortcuts to find in every track, some are easy to find while others you’ll find by dumb luck.
You also have weapons and power-ups to collect in your race; Missiles, grappling hooks, turbos, bombs, etc.
You can also punch and kick other opponents as in Road Rash.

Modes include, Single Race, Points Race, Battle Mode, Arcade and Training.
In point races, you can upgrade your characters snowmobiles and better use of their weapons. This is also how you open new tracks, arenas and most of the characters.
The races are total chaos, (and not in a good way) I mean when your racing and no mater how hard you try the computer opponents will away’s be able to come out of nowhere and win the race.
You’ll be ready to throw your controller through the screen many times after you play a track over and over and get beaten by the guy who was in last place.
Weapons are EVERYWHERE so you’ll be blasting others and they will be blasting you non stop.

The graphics are okay, but there is some slow frame rate when so much of the chaos is going on.
The sound is repetitive, every character says their same three lines over and over again.
And the background music is the same old techno beat heard in many other games.
There are trick ramps, but they are automatic and serve little purpose other then getting an extra power-up.
Overall Arctic Thunder is a brainless arcade racer that is at best a renter.
