BACKYARD BASEBALL

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

Video games wave always been associated with kids. Some people still have that idea that a video game is a toy.
When you reach adulthood, its time to put the video games away.
Well, we all know those people are idiots. After all, there are more game designed for adults than for kids these days.
But before you think this is going to be a pro adult violent games article, stop.
This is just the opposite. I want the adults to include their kids or someone’s kids into their game playing experience.
It can be fun. Kids these days know so much more about gaming then we ever did as spawns of the 80's.
So, get them started playing right away. Show them how much fun playing games is, and you’ll find out how much fun playing with them can be.

If you love basebal, and who doesn’t. Am I right, folks?
Don’t shove a five year old in front of Triple Play, or MLB 2004. No, get them a baseball game that is just their size.
Backyard Baseball is a great starter baseball game for the Nintendo Gamecube.
The backyard games have been around forever on PC, but it wasn’t until recently that the series has jumped over to console gamers.
As an adult, with no kids to speak of...ahem. I didn’t think I’d enjoy a title like this.
However, the inner kid in me came out. My inner child saw how much fun this game really was.
It has simple and easy to use controls. Decent graphics, there not spectacular, but you don’t need that to entertain a youth. Does a four or five year old say, This game’s textures are flat.
Well, maybe these days they do, what do I know, my inner child thought Atari baseball was cool.
Anyway, no. They don’t say that. Colorful cartoon characters with plenty of life and humor is all they need.
And that’s exactly what this Backyard game is full of.

Backyard Baseball 2003 is chalk full of characters. We got athletes, nerds, girls, hicks, even a kid in a wheelchair.
It’s got somone for everyone. Heck even some big leaguers are in the game as kids.
So if you or your kid has a favorite player, they can still play as their favorite slugger.
The game also features real MLB teams, so you can play as the Cubs. Cork bat not included. (Sorry Sosa)
The game may be too easy for a group of aduts to play and enjoy, but add a couple of kids to the mix and you have yourself a great ballgame on a rainy day.
