BLADE

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

The 1998 movie "Blade" starring Wesley Snipes was with out a doubt one of the best comic book movies of all time. The much anticipated sequel probably won't surface in theaters until 2002. With that in mind, I want to direct all of you wanna be vampire hunters to the next best thing. Activison has released a game for the PSone based on Blade. The movie, not the Marvel comic which the movie was based. This game could have easily followed such other PlayStation "Marvel's" as Hulk, Fantastic Four, and Iron Man which all sucked. Instead Activision has taken everything that was cool about the movie, and put it into a game.

Blade the video game is just as violent, stars Wesley Snipes (sort of), and even sets the same dark and gloomy mood the film did. Its everything The Crow game should have been.
Graphically its impressive, but not heart stopping. Control is good, but due to some camera angle conflicts that effect most 3rd person games, its not perfect either.
Blade tends to load shortly during levels, which can also be annoying.

However, I don't care. This game could have featured Atari 2600 graphics and sounds, had to be played using a Nintendo Power Pad and I still would have wanted to play it. Maybe for not very long, but Activision would have had my money. But I'm here to say that Blade is worth buying, renting, borrowing, whatever it takes to play this game.
If you can't wait for Blade 2 to hit theaters and watching the DVD for the 100th time does not enthuse you as might once did. Get Blade for the PlayStation. It will satisfying your cravings.
