One of my personal favorite PSone fighting games is back with a new installment, on the PS2 of course. Bloody Roar 3 has a new system and a new distributer, Activision. However, it is still created by Hudson, who created both one and two.
Bloody Roar 3 is not a technical achievement in any way. Sure it looks better then its predecessors, but that's a given. It won't be giving Tekken or DOA a run for their money.
However. Bloody Roar 3 is still a solid fighter. Meaning, it's a great fighter.
Great control, great characters, and backgrounds. Which are now multi-level, with destructible walls and floors. This is a cool addition.
For those who don't know. Bloody Roar is 3D fighter where each fighter has an animal alter ego they can change to.
When you perform enough combo's, your animal meter gets full and with a touch of a button. You can become an animal mutant of your formal self. Thus giving you more energy and strength.
The characters are, Yugo: The wolf, Alice: the Rabbit, Shina: the chaeta, Long: the tiger, Gado: the lion, Stun: the beetle, Shenlong: the snake, amung others.
For those of you who are Roar fans, Bloody Roar 3 offers new characters, levels, and plays a lot faster then before. Bloody Roar 3 includes a total of fourteen playable fighters, and nine 3D arenas.
Play in single, two-player, plus twelve challenging gameplay modes.
There was a time when the market was flooded with fighting games.
In that market, Bloody Roar might have drowned. Luckily for us, its in a market where the fighting game has gone the way of the Do Do bird.
Fighters are far and few between these days. Bloody Roar 3 is worth playing. It's a great game for fighter fans and gamers who like to play together.
Its worth owning in my book, and a rental for all. Bloody Roar 3 has always been one of my personal favorite fighters of the PlayStation era.
