Ever watch one of those old movies car chases where the crooks jumps over hills, smash fruit stands and race through alley ways and thought man I wish there was a video game like that. If the answer is yes then your wish has come true with Driver. In Driver you play a undercover cop that is what the criminal underworld call a Driver. You'll have 40 missions in this game, from being a getaway driver to helping on a hit.
The graphics are vary well done. The cars show mild to severe damage and the background maps are huge! This isn't no circle track, but streets, highways, alleys, parking garages, in cities like New York, L.A., San Francisco and Miami. If you happen to live in these cities you'll notice some familiar landmarks. The control is awesome, you can skid, slide, and weave in and out of traffic with ease. The only other game that comes close Driver is Die Hard Trilogy (Die Hard 3) but in that game all you do is race to an area to stop a bomb.
In Driver not only do you have to race to an objective but also out smart the cops. The CPU AI on the cops is vary good. If you race through the city and spot a cop in time, you can slow down and stop at the red light and the cop won't bother you. but if you race though the red light you'll see some red lights in your rearview mirror. There's even a camera mode where you can save a good chase and you can watch those cops flip over and crash over and over again. My only complaints about Driver is one, you can't choose your car. (your stuck with whatever car they give you) Two, the FMV animation is vary stiff. And three there is no 2-player mode. But I could look over it with all the fun I had with Driver.
