Acclaim is a liar! And here is why.
Last year Acclaim brought out their first ECW wrestling game. It was a complete disaster titled Hardcore Revolution. Acclaim recycled their WWF Attitude engine to make the Mature rated game. Acclaim said the next ECW game will have a whole new engine and style. So it makes its debut this year. ECW Anarchy Rulz is a Playstation exclusive and uses the EXACT same engine as Hardcore Revolution. In fact, besides the addition of a couple wrestlers and a different control style. Its the EXACT same game AGAIN!
ECW Anarchy Rulz even carries a lesser rating (Teen) then the Mature rated Hardcore. How can they make the ECW more daring then the last game with a lesser rating. Nothing about this game makes sense.
There was a time when Acclaim made excellent wrestling games. WWF War Zone was an awesome game for its time, and Attitude was a great improvement on War Zone. That was four years ago now. With THQ making wrestling games like WWF Smack Down and EA's WCW games gaining flair its time to dump the Attitude game engine and start from scratch. Lets face it ECW does NOT have the fame the WWF or even the WCW has. If Acclaim wants the recognition they once had they're gonna have to make wrestling game that can stand alone on its own with or with out the ECW name. They need a game that will bring in wrestling fans and not just disappointed ECW fans.
