Its the most wonderfull time of the year, football season of course.
The return of football only means its the return of NFL Game Day to the Playstation. NFL Game Day 2001 is the sixth game in the series.
NFL Game Day 2001 is not a major improvement over 2000, but like always Game Day gives you just enough to make you want it.
The A.I. is improved over last year. Gone are the familiar classic pop tune celebrations, which was cool at first, but then wore out its welcome.
Graphically NFL Game Day 2001 is better, but don't expect a complete haul over. Do expect a few new animations and each player has been scaled to his acyual height and weight.
NFL Game Day still has the best overall presentation found on any NFL Playstation title. Dual announcers Dick Enberg and Phil Simms deliver the best commentary in Playstation football. The Revolutionary Telestrator returns for its sophmore year. A much improved Telestrator I might add, with better analysis of the play.
NFL Game Day is partially designed by the Players and coaches themselves. Sony thrives for acuracy and they do deliver.

NFL Game Day 2001 probably won't convert any Madden fans, but it will bring in the undecided vote.
Sony has pushed NFL Game Day to its max for the current Playstation technology. The logical next step is to change the hardware to play Game Day on. We'll find out how that works later in the year.
Until then Game Day 2001 feels like home for NFL fans every where, and there's no place like home.OVERALL: 8
