NFL Game Day has always been a leader in the Playstation football arena. It revolutionized the way we play video football. Although still the best of '98, NFL Game Day '99 was not as good as its '98 predecessor. So for those of you who may be in doubt about NFL Game Day 2000 fear no more. NFL Game Day 2000 is the BEST Game Day to date, and may be the best NFL game ever to hit the Playstation.
NFL Game Day 2000 has pumped up its graphics and game play. Its still not perfect, but perfection has nothing to do with fun. These polygon players are larger, more reminiscent of Game Day '98. However they do break-up. Players will walk right through one another, uniforms will flicker from, common polygon problems.
The play control is much improved. 989 Sports has fine tuned their legendary game play to now include everybody. If you have never played a Game Day game in your life, YOU can be successful at Game Day 2000.
The revamped control also allows you more control over your players. You choose when a player celebrates a victory. at any time after a play your character can perform a celebration dance. Woo-hoo!
Unfortunately 989 slipped on the sound quality. Coming from Sony one would expect a superior sound. Game Day 2000's leaves a touch of static behind after the play by play. Its faint, but its there. The dual announcers who call the game are as good as the past Game Days, with the exception of repetitiveness. Game Day 2000 uses a great television tool called Telestrator so we can see Phil Simms analysis. Unfortunately there is a limited amount of telestrator examples available in this game. You'll find yourself skipping them, for you've seen them two thousand times.
Game Day 2000 allows one to create their own plays, enter training camp, and enter a saved senior from NCAA GameBreaker 2000 on your memory card and recruit him into the NFL. NFL Game Day 2000 is with out a doubt the most fun you will have with a football simulator this year on your Playstation.
