Sometime in the later half of Playstation's freshmen year ASC games came out with an off-road racer called TNN Motorsports: Hardcore 4x4. It was a huge success. Its still available under Sony's Greatest Hits collection today. Finally ASC's long awaited sequel is out. TNN Motorsports: Hardcore TR for Sony Playstation. Hardcore TR is a giant leap ahead of the original. Better graphics, and a whole new hot rod feature makes this a brand new game.
Hardcore TR features multiple trucks and hot rod trucks to choose from, none of which are licensed by major manufactures.
Graphically Hardcore does not stand out. The Test Drive Off-Road series still has it beat. The trucks lack detail. ASC missed opportunity to make these trucks shine. Too few colors collide to give a dark bland look. Damage is outstanding. dents and scratches along with shattered windows is a major plus.
Pop up is an obvious fault on the landscapes, but you notice it much over its hardcore action.
Hardcore TR's best feature is the control. This game completely utilizes the analog controller. Spins, turns, acceleration, bumps and grinds, all fantastic.
Hardcore doesn't limit the player with rules. Driving along side of a cliff, be careful you can and will fall off. Off road or on, side road or main street, Hardcore TR has no major track limits. If you get stuck, with the press of a button you have a new truck. Good sound track, decent graphics, and wonderful gameplay make this a Hardcore sequel to look out for.
