LEGEND OF LEGAIA

by Jay "THE FLEA" Wade

Ten years ago, man and creatures called Suru lived together in peace. Then one day a mist appears and covered the land turning all Suru into evil deadly creatures. Man when into hiding and hid from the creatures and mist for several years behind giant walls. Years later the Suru destroyed the wall and letting in the mist and creatures inside there town and threatens to destroy all humans living there. But our hero awakens the Genesis Tree with his Re-Suru (a Suru immune to the mist) and the tree wipes out the mist in the area. So now our hero must find all the Trees and wipe out the mist once and for all. That's the basic plot to a new RPG called Legend of Legaia. This game came from the creators of Wild Arms. (Note: This is not a sequel to Illusion of Gaia from the SNES, I've had several people ask me that.) This game has been called the Fighting RPG. Because it's battle scenes are like a fighting game, pulling off combos to do more damage. The fighting scenes look good, and the combos are not that hard to learn. My biggest problem is the characters design. Vary bland and dull. And the story and over head map scenes look like graphics from Brave Fencer Musashi. The Creatures look okay, but nothing special. Thou a lot of the creatures are a challenge to defeat. Just like in Wild Arms there's three main characters that you must discover and the three battle to find the Genesis Trees. Overall I think this RPG is worth taking a look at but it will never become a Classic RPG like Final Fantasy 7, Xenogears or even Wild Arms.
