I love some of the classic RPG's, Crono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Dragon Warrior, and of course the Final Fantasy's. I had RPG's for every system, but even thou I had a Sega-CD I never owned (or played) any of the Lunar series. I've always heard good things about these games but I never got any until the rerelease of Lunar: Silver Star Story for the PSX. After playing the PSX version it makes me wish I had played the original version so I can compare.
This game may not have the best graphics for now-a-days standards but overall this game is one of the best RPG's for the PSX. (and Sega-CD) They upgraded the Voices, Graphics, and added all new FMV.
The FMV that pull the story along are done quite well, it has the look of a Japan Anime. but most of it isn't going to knock your socks off, but it is fun to watch. A big strong point in the music in this game. (I still hum that opening song and the boat song from time to time) What really stands out in this RPG is the Characters and the humor, You play characters from a Young Dragonmaster, a beautiful singer, a vain wizard, a drunk warrior, a rebellious priest, and of course your sidekick a flying cat.
This is one RPG I found myself laughing from time to time. (and not from how bad it is) There's also some adult humor that younger RPGers might not catch. The story is strong, but it not a whole lot different for others. The battles are an old style of RPG. Some might find Lunar to easy compared to the new RPG's but I found myself that I couldn't put it down. Included with the 2 game CD's are a Making of Lunar CD, a sound track CD, a hard cover manual and a cloth map. (also can be used as a hanky) Overall this game is worth getting, whether you want to relive a classic or just to play a fun RPG.
