MORTAL KOMBAT GOLD

by Jay "THE FLEA" Wade

I'm one of a dying breed, a Mortal Kombat fan.
Most people hated the MK series after part 2, but not me I liked MK3 and I loved MK4. So I tested Mortal Kombat Gold for the Sega Dreamcast. MKG is basically MK4 but added are six new characters. Cyrax, Katana, Mileena, Kung Lao, Sektor and (one of my favorites) Baraka. The Graphics is the best I've ever seen in a MK game. and it's looks better then the Arcade MK4. But there seem to be a lot of little glitches in the game. Some can get really annoying.

The FMV endings are the same as MK4 (adding 6 new ones) and all are done vary poor. The animation looks vary jerky and they act more like puppets then people.
The six new characters have most all their classic moves and fatalities. Some are fun, while others make your eyes roll back and think "is this the best they could do?"

The control has a little problem, but not that bad to ruin a good fight. One bit of advice playing MKG, don't play Shinok. He loads like crazy. Every time he switches character moves you get a two second load time. (this get vary annoying)

Overall if you have a Dreamcast and want a MK game then I suggest you give MKG a look. If your just looking for a awesome fighting game on Dreamcast, then I suggest Soul Caliber or Power Stone.
