MONSTER TRUCK MADNESS 64

by Wyatt "JOE DOG" Elloitt

Monster Truck shows seem to attract the same audience Wrestling does. In fact you could call it the WWF of NASCAR. Its no coincidence that some WCW and WWF stars have their own monster trucks. Microsoft's popular Monster Truck Madness is now available on your Nintendo 64 thanks to Rockstar games. Monster Truck Madness 64 is quite an effort, but its not perfect.

The Graphics are nice. Complete 3D tracks with no limits at all. Yes there is a track pattern you must stick to if you want to win the race, but as a video game there are no restrictions.

The sound provided by Rockstar games is less rock n' roll, but more static. Blame it on the cartridge based N64 if you will, but none the less it is annoying. Monster are suppose to be loud, this is where the succeed. The control is touchy. You will find yourself getting stuck easily, flipping over, and turning around can be a problem.

Since there are some disadvantages to complete freedom on a race track. A race track has rules or you can't win. If you go off road and off course, it can be impossible to find your way back to win. Which is the ultimate goal..Or is it? Monster Truck Madness 64 also provides other options to gamers besides racing. How bout monster truck soccer? Trucks on ice in monster truck hockey? Monster truck wrestling, once again proof of the WWF of NASCAR theory.

Monster Truck Madness 64 provides a ton of fun no matter how you play. Add a player or two or even three for even more muddy fun.
There are a lot of off-road racing games available, but none that bring the feel of a Monster Truck show home like Monster Truck Madness 64.
