21 Grams

When a dying man gets a heart transplant, he finds the widow of the donor and falls in love with her. Meanwhile the man who killed her husband and children is free but fighting the guilt of what he caused. At first 21 Grams is most confusing, you get bits and pieces of the story out of order. But as the movie progresses, the pieces fall into place and it all make sense by the end. All the actors make strong memorable performances in this movie. The characters are on the brink of destruction due to a tragedy. And must learn that the past can't be changed and they must move on with their lives. 21 Grams get my full recommendation.

Monster

Based on a true story on the female serial killer Aileen Wuornos. A prostitute down in life finds light in a young girl. but after she's raped, she turns to murdering and robbing the people who pick her up instead. Charlize Theron is brilliant as Aileen, Her acting abilities go beyond perfect as the killer/prostitute. You really feel sorry for this person, and really see how she ended up a killer. Theron not only acts the part but looks the part, it's almost scary. The only complaint to Monster is it doesn't explain into much detail how exactly she was caught. Even though you may know the real case, it should have been told in the movie as well. Other then that the movie is a perfect chilling tale on how a pathetic woman can turn into a monster.

Big Fish

A son wants to know the life story of his dying father, but his stories are wild tall tales that are hard to swallow. Tim Burton's tells a great tall tale of a father's exaggerated life. The look and special effects of Big Fish is like only Tim Burton can do. The story and characters will pull at your heart and have you weeping by the end. While Big Fish is a wonderful tale, it's missing the magic that Edward Scissorhands had. It needed more about the son exploring to truth to his dad's tales, and how his stories became wild exaggerations. Big Fish is worth checking out, it's just not the classic tall tale it could have been.

House of Sand and Fog

A woman loses her home due to mistake by the government, it's auctioned off to a foreign family who doesn't want to give the house back. The house belongs to the woman's family and she tries everything in her power to get her house back. Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly delivers powerful performances in House of Sand and Fog. Their characters are what drive this movie. The plot has a lesson to be learned, both characters are bull headed and selfish, and their acts lead to tragedy. The only complaint on House of Sand and Fog is there's several plot points that are barely are hardly explained. Some are vary easy to miss, other's you almost have to guess. House of Sand and Fog is a must see just for Kingsley & Connelly alone.

Cold Mountain

A high class city girl falls in love with a small town farmer, when civil war breaks out between north and south he is forced to join the Confederate army. But when he sees all his comrades die for a cause he doesn't believe in, he goes AWOL and goes on the run to get back home to his love. Cold Mountain is a wonderful epic with great acting. Jude Law, Nicole Kidman & Renee Zellweger are perfect in their roles. You'll laugh, cry and be on the edge of your seat. The only real complaint on Cold Mountain is it's predicable ending. This doesn't ruin the film, it just follows the classic cliche lost love ending. I highly recommend Cold Mountain as a great epic love or die adventure.

Paycheck

A computer scientist is hired on a top secret project that after completing his task, his short term memory would be erased. But when the job is done he finds his life in danger and a mysterious envelope. Having no idea what he did he must use the 20 clues in the envelope to figure out why people are out to kill him. This film has many good things going for it, an interesting story, John Woo action, and a mystery that slowly unravels. The sub-characters pull the story off, but main one seems out of place. If you haven't figured it out yet, it's Ben Affleck. His character would a lot more memorable if it wasn't played by Affleck. Paycheck is an okay sci-fi adventure that will keep entertained by it's mysterious plot. A vary light recommendation for Paycheck.

Peter Pan

A young girl named Windy meets a strange flying boy named Peter Pan in her room one night. She and her brothers follow him to Neverland to fight Captain Hook and his pirates. The classic tale of Peter Pan is being retold in a new live action adventure. This new Peter Pan is a lovable classic. It stays true to the story and the actors pull off the classic characters. The special effects are wonderful and the Neverland never looked better. There are a few moments you'll roll your eyes at it's silliness. But it's forgivable. Take the whole family to relive this classic tale of adventure.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

The epic ends as Frodo journeys with Sam to destroy the ring. At the same time the war of man is wearing thin, but all must hold out until Frodo & Sam destroy the ring and end the evil of Souron is over. A great end to a great epic classic. RotK hold true to the original books, there's only one part that was totally cut from the book, but it's understandable why it was cut out. There's even an added scene that was not in the books, it just gives a better understanding of Gollum. The action is unbelievable to watch, and the special effects are like nothing else out there. Go see the conclusion of this classic trilogy.

Something's Gotta Give

A 63 year old Hip-hop record executive (Jack Nicolson) who's dating a 20 year old girl and has a heart attack at her mother's (Diane Keaton) house. He's ordered to be near the hospital by staying at the mother's house until he is strong enough to leave. He's a ditty about Jack and Diane, two great actors doing a comedy like only they can. Okay enough of that, Jack and Diane are great as always as memorable characters. You fall in love with these smart and fun characters. The story is a love story about two people afraid to make a change in their lives. The characters are funny and your pulled in from beginning until the vary end. The story drags a tad long in a couple areas, but nothing to ruin the moments in the film. I highly recommend Something's Gotta Give is one of the best romantic comedies of the year.

Stuck On You

A pair of brothers who are attached side by side want to change their lives. One wants to be an actor, while the other just wants to find love and run his burger cafe. Stuck on You is a nice character story, but is short on laughs. I'd compare this film with Shallow Hal, a sweet story about a character(s) who must overcome their handicap. You enjoy the characters struggle to accomplish a task that seems impossible for them, but somehow they pull it off. There are some laughs but not as many as there should have been. The Farley Brothers do great with odd characters and I'd lightly recommend Stuck on You as a lightly fun character movie.

The Last Samurai

An ex-civil War Captain (Tom Cruise) is hired as a mercenary in Japan to train soldiers to go to war against Samurai who rebel against the modern government. When the Captain is captured by the Samurai, he learns the truth about their peaceful ways and end up fighting along with the Samurai. If you loved Braveheart then Last Samurai is a must see. This epic war film has everything, great characters, plot, action, and suspense, you'll even cry at moments. There's many memorable scenes and the acting is all Oscar worthy. This movie is a classic and one of the best films of 2003. A must see.

The Missing

Set in the late 1800s, a farm woman has her daughter kidnapped to be sold as a sex slave in Mexico. She gets help from her father who lives the way of the American Indian to track down the gang who took her daughter. The Missing is one of the best movies of the year, a great adventure with great characters. The Mother, her father and the Villain all make this movie work. The acting is all Oscar worthy and Ron Howard's direction makes this a great film. The Missing is one movie that should not be missed.

The Haunted Mansion

A real estate agent (Eddie Murphy) and his family is brought to an old mansion, but soon finds out the mansion is haunted by ghosts who are trapped by an evil curse. The Agent must solve the mystery behind the curse and release the spirits trapped within it's walls. While Pirates of the Caribbean was a fun movie based on a ride from Disneyland, the same cannot be said for Haunted Mansion. The plot is unoriginal, the characters are "Full House" bad, top it off with bad dialog and acting, this movie is one ride that has no thrills. There are a few laughs here and there from Eddie Murphy but this is the only thing that makes this movie entertaining in any way.

The Cat in the Hat

When two kids are left bored with a sleeping baby-sitter, s six foot magical cat appears and shows the kids how to have fun while their Mom is away. While Mike Meyers did get a laugh here and there, he just couldn't pull off the Cat. The Cat's character is a mix of Dr. Evil and the Cowardly Lion. I think an animated Cat would have looked better. The other complaint on CitH is it's stupid subplot of the mom's boyfriend and the mothers workplace. The Grinch did a better job at a Seuss book. This film is only good as a desperate rental just for a couple good moments that are far and few.

Gothika

A mental patent psychiatrist she's a dead girl while driving home in a storm and finds herself in the same prison that she used to treat patents. She fights to learn the truth to why she's in the prison and if the dead is really trying to tell her something. Helle Berry is wonderful as the psychiatrist becoming the patent. You'll jump from your seat a few times. The plot is not only a scary ghost story but a mystery as well. The only complaint on Gothika is the ending, the true villain becomes a big idiot in the end and I found this unnecessary. I lightly recommend Gothika as a cool mystery from the grave movie.

Master and Commander

A British ship captain is hunting for a Napoleon war ship and will bring it down no matter what the cost. But their ship is out gunned and cannot penetrate the armor of this vessel, the captain follows the ship but the crew feels this mission might be in vain. Russel Crow gives another Oscar winning performance, M&C is a great war ship movie. Think of it as a War Sub movie just set in the 1600s. The plot is that of most Sub movies, one ship versus another and the captain must make decisions to out smart the enemy and what's best for his ship and the mission. Overall I highly recommend M&C if you like epic style war movies.

Looney Tunes: Back in Action

After Daffy Duck is fired from Warner Brothers, Daffy goes on an adventure as a spy to stop an evil CEO of the Acme corporation from getting his hands on the blue monkey diamond. Meenwhile Bug's and a WB executive hunts down Daffy to give him back his job and help save the world. The Looney Tunes are back in live action, but they are not at there best. Looney Tunes is a fun silly family movie that has many fun moments. But the movie is so much wham bam boom, that by the end your tired of it's craziness. Where Looney Tunes worked best is when they made fun of them self's, their old cartoons. Not chasing each other in Jeff Gordon's race car. I wish the "human" characters where more normal and not cartoons them self's. I can only lightly recommend Back in Action as something the kids might enjoy.

Matrix: Revolutions

Continuing where Reloaded left off, Neo must stop the war between man and machine. He becomes so powerful he cannot only control the matrix world but the real world as well. Meanwhile Zion is getting ready to battle to machines and defend Zion as long as they can until Neo can reach the machine city and bring peace. Fans of the Matrix will not be pleased with Revolutions, the action isn't as wild as Reloaded. But does have some good actions scenes, the Zion war and neo/smith fight are intense. the plot still has a few holes, but if you played the game and watch the Animatrix they will be filled. The major problem with Revolutions is the ending. It has a dark unclear ending with a lot of disappointments, this is not how I wanted to see this great series come to an end. Revolutions is worth checking out if you've seen Reloaded and the action as always makes the matrix films worth your time, just expect to be let down in the end.

Elf

After a human baby hides in Santa's sack and brought to the North Pole, he is taken in as an Elf. He struggles to fit in as an Elf but when he's 6 foot tall and everyone else is under 3 feet, it's hard not to stand out. So he sets out to find his real family and is a fish out of water in New York City. This movie had low expectations, but it turns out to be a pleasant holiday surprise. Will Farrell is vary funny as the Elf named Buddie, the whole fish out of water story works and is a better holiday movie then Santa Clause 2 was. While the plot is corny and goofy, it's Will Farrell as the Elf that will keep you laughing. I lightly recommend Elf as a fun holiday movie.

Radio

A couch of a small town high school football team takes a mentally disabled man nicknamed Radio under his wing by making him apart of the school sport events. But the towns people think that radio might be a distraction and ruin their chances of taking the team to state. Cuba Gooding Jr. is spectacular as Radio, he's a lovable character and is believable in the part. The story is a feel good movie that will pull at your heart strings. While the story is your basic don't exclude someone who's different story, it still holds up as a good movie. It was also good to see the real people behind this story in the end. I recommend Radio as a great feel good movie.

Intolerable Cruelty

A divorce lawyer falls for one of his clients who is just a gold digger out to get rich by marrying a rich man and divorcing him. The lawyer thinks he can change her and prove that she can marry for love instead of money. George Clooney and Zeta-Jones are what makes this movie work, These two characters are both egotistical money grubbers that should be ashamed of their actions. The way they play each other is what keeps the movie flowing. The story is predictable but it will keep your attention, it's also obvious to were the twists are leading up to. But this aside, the characters are what sell this movie and make it lightly worth checking out.

Lost in Translation

Bill Murray plays a lonely has been actor who's in Japan to star in a whiskey ad. When he finds another lonely soul, a much younger woman married to a photographer, they find that they can enjoy Japan together and not feel sorry about their lonely lives. Bill Murray opens himself to a new style of acting role for him, insted of the wild and nutty kind of characters he's used to playing, he's a lonely depressed actor who bored with his life. The characters are the only thing that make this movie worth seeing. The plot is dull and only has a few laughs, The movie drags at many times, and your mind will start to wander. The film is vary settle in it's story and humor. I lightly recommend Lost in Translation just for acting and characters.

Scary Movie 3

A tape that kills people when they watch it is linked to crop circles in a farmers field, and his brother wants to be a rap star. A comedy spoof mainly making fun of Signs, The Ring, 8 Mile, Matrix, and many more. David Zucker returns to the spoof, Famous for great spoofs as in Airplane and Naked Gun. Scary Movie 3 is the best of the Scary Movie series. If your expecting the gross out humor of Scary Movie 1 & 2, you might be disappointed. While there are still a lot of adult humor, it's just not as "graphic" as the first two. Yes, the plot is down right stupid and it's supposed to be, Zucker does a great job making fun of Signs and The Ring. I found myself laughing to tears at many of the jokes. You do need to see those two films to really appreciate the humor. Much of this movie reminds me of Airplane, and there's even a joke that pays tribute to it. Instead of the Saturday Night Fever bit, it's 8 Mile, The lead female is a whinny dumb bell, and the farmer's brother reminds me a lot of the lead character in Airplane. If your looking for a good laugh I recommend Scary Movie 3.

Mystic River

Three boys grow up three different lives, A detective, a Mobster, and troubled family man. When the mobsters daughter is murdered, he wants to take the law into his own hands, but his childhood friend (the detective) wants him to let the police handle it. Mystic River is a great thought out mystery that has a lesson to be learned. The acting is all award winning and the characters are wonderful. The plot is vary dark and will not leave you with a good feeling by the end. But there is a valuable lesson to be learned from this movie that all should see. Clint Eastwood is a great writer and has put together a great cast. I highly recommend Mystic River as a great mystery with a lesson.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Five teens on their way to a concert pick up a troubled hitchhiker who ends up destroying all their plans. When looking for help they are lead to a house where a murderous family live, including leatherface and his chainsaw. While the remake of TCM is a good horror that will keep you glued to the screen from beginning to end, it does not surpass the original classic. The story takes a totally different approach to the story, the remake hardly follows the original at all. But still staying true to it's original terror and torture, just a little more gorier and better effects. The remake does have a better ending then the original, and will give you a chill down the spine. You'll believe that leatherface really existed. I highly recommend TCM as a good horror film, just don't expect it to be anything like the original.

Runaway Jury

A lawyer firm for a weapon manufacture uses any illegal tactics to make a jury go their way. But when a juror and his partner turns the tables on the lawyer by blackmailing him, he feels he must find out who his blackmailers are before a verdict can be made. While the story, characters and plot twists where really smart and thrilling, it's the antigun preachiness that gets annoying about Runaway Jury. The story is great, A crooked lawyer rules a jury by any means until one juror shows the lawyer he's in charge. Gene Hackmen, Dustin Hoffman and the rest of the cast is wonderful in their roles. But the movie has a Liberal antigun message that makes the viewer sick and tired. If you for guns you'll hate this movie really fast. But this aside, the movie is a great court drama, and they ways the lawyer and juror manipulates the jury will keep you watching. Plus there are several video game references in the beginning. I lightly recommend Runaway Jury, just leave your political preferences at the door.

Kill Bill vol. 1

A professional assassin squad murders one of their own at her wedding. But when the bride lives and wakes from a coma, she wants revenge for the deaths of everyone they killed at her wedding including her unborn child. Quentin Tarantino has started a classic cult series. Kill Bill is a must see for any Anime or marshal arts movie fans. The action is like nothing else out there, Imagine anime in live action. In fact one part of the movie is told in anime. The action is full of blood and gore with limbs everywhere. There's even a mystery and a cliffhanger of sorts that will keep you guessing until volume 2 is released. Tarantino has created another cult classic.

House of the Dead

The ultimate party on a cursed island turns into a disaster when zombies crash the party and kill anything that's still breathing. The party survivors, a gun smuggler and a cop must find an escape and kill as many zombies as possable with the guns the smuggler has. This has my vote as the worst video game movie ever made, Resident Evil is a work of art compared to this crap. The characters, the plot, the action there was nothing good about this film. They even use footage from the game to cut to different scenes and in many of the action gunplay. The dialog is some of the worst ever written, the screenplay must have been written on toilet paper. The movie even rips off Matrix and Jaws. This movie isn't even good enough to be a made for video movie. Half people in the theater walked out and it was hard for this reviewer to stay in the seat. You want to see a movie about zombies go rent anything else, avoid at all costs, you have been warned.

Out of Time

A local head of Police is having an affair with a married woman who has an abusive husband. He's set up for her murder, now he fights to keep one step ahead of the homicide detectives to find the person responsible of framing him. Denzel Washington is spectacular and smart in his role, the plot is smart and you'll be on the edge of your seat watching him stay one step ahead of being arrested for murder. You really feel for the mistake he makes by sleeping with a married woman and how it almost destroyed his life. The supporting cast also pull their characters off and you are pulled into the story from beginning until the vary end. Out of Time will have you out of breath by the end. A must see.

The Rundown

A Bounty Hunter (The Rock) is set out to the South America jungle to retrieve the son of a mob boss. But the son holds the key to a priceless treasure that could make him rich or save a town from slavery. The adds do not give this movie any justice. When seeing the trailer on this movie, it looks like Scorpion King in the jungle. But comparing The Rundown with the Scorpion King would be an insult. The movie is full of great action, The Rock really pulls it off as an action star. The characters are funny and the plot is almost like Indiana Jones. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a cameo, it feels as thou Arnold is passing the torch to the Rock. The Rundown is a good movie if you loved those old style Schwarzenegger films of the past.

Secondhand Lions

A young boy is forced to live with his two recluse uncles. The mother of the boy wants him to discover if theres any truth to a rumor they are sitting on a stolen fortune. This is one of the best movies of the year, a film the whole family can enjoy. The movie is full of memorable characters, in a simple plot and even a mystery. The characters are full of laughs, just on how these two old coots think. Michael Cane and Robert Duvall are perfect as these two old coots. The only complaint I can even give this film is we (the audience) never get to hear the full "man speech" Duvall's character keeps promising to tell. This in no way ruins the movie in any way, I just wanted to hear it. It's holds a good message and will make you feel good about life. It may even get you find an elderly person in your life and ask him/her their life story. A must see.

Cabin Fever

Five college kids go on vacation to a cabin in the woods, but when they refuse to help a diseased man, they too come down with his flesh eating illness and the five must seek medical help before the disease kills them all. Cabin Fever is one of the worst movies of 2003. Most all the characters are complete idiots or inbred hicks. The movie can't make up it's mind on if it's a horror, a survival or a comedy. It starts as a horror, turns into a survival then ends with bad jokes. It's mostly gross out images of bloody flesh that rot off the bones that will get you to squirm a few times. But this is the only horror that this movie has. The plot is down right childish, everybody acts like a dope head or an inbred. NOBODY has a lick of sense. Then the movie ends with the message "look, everyone's an idiot and now they will pay." Cabin Fever gets an avoid at all costs, there's nothing to see but a bunch of morons die of the ebola virus. The End.

Underworld

A thousand year war between Vampires and Werewolf's has Vampire hunters hunting the last remaining Wolfmen. But a human holds the key to end the war once and for all. Underworld is almost a female Blade, but the lack of action and fun characters holds the movie back from being great. The story and twists is where this movie shines. The characters are all the same, no emotion drones. While the main Wolf Hunter was fun to see her in the few action moments, but the action needed a little more wild moments. The special effects where acceptable, but the wolfs are obvious computer effects. Underworld was fun enough to lightly recommend, but she's far from being as cool as Blade was in the killer vampire that kicks butt department.

Anything Else

A young comedy writer struggles in New York to become a successful writer, but a neurotic girlfriend, a loser agent, his shrink and an old eccentric comedy writer holds him back to achieving his dreams. This movie is full of insane characters that by the end you want to pull your hair out over these frustrating people. You really don't see what the main character (Jason Biggs) sees in any of them. The characters are well acted and this is what they are supposed to do. The comedy is subtle, in fact it's so subtle you'll just chuckle here and there at how insane their logic is. The talking to the camera moments are distracting, and at time unnecessary. This is writer laziness due to it's the easy way out to explain the moment. It should have been cuts to Biggs' talking to his shrink instead of explaining it to the audience. Overall the insane characters and how Biggs' character must escape them is what makes Anything Else worth seeing.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico

El Mariachi returns in his second American film, This time he's hired by a C.I.A. Agent (Depp) who wants him to kill a General who out to kill a drug cartel whose out to assassinate the president of Mexico. Add to the mix an EX FBI Agent hunting down the drug cartel and his right hand man. While Desperado was a fun action film with a thin plot. "OUaTiM" is a confusing plot with less El Mariachi action. The plot has so many wholes in it could be called Swiss cheese. There are too many characters to follow and most are unnecessary to the story. The story is about El Mariachi but they spend half the film on these other characters. The only good characters where Antonio Banderas & Johnny Depp, everyone else was a waste of time. The few action moments where highly enjoyable and the whole look and how it was shot really saved this movie from being a total waste. I hope to see a third American El Mariachi movie, but this time in a simple story about a hero versus a villain and a whole lot of action.

He struggles to be a good dad while still trying to con a criminal out of his money. The con is Sting quality with an ending that's quite a twist. Matchstick Men is one of the best con men movies in a long time.

The Order

A priest investigates the death of a lead priest who dies under suspicious circumstances. But the mystery leads to demons, a dark cult and a creature called the Sin Eater. All while contemplating on leaving the Vatican to find love in a girl he once performed an exorcism on. The order is so confusing even the PR people had trouble on how to market this movie. If you've seen the movie trailer, it makes the story out to be a murder mystery and how the church is covering it up. But in the TV ads it claims it's about a priest who fights demons and ghosts. While both is true to some degree, the main story is about the Sin Eater. The plot is full of holes and unanswered questions. The characters are boring and the story moves at an extremely slow pace. The story has little mystery to it, you'll figure out the whole plot halfway into the film. I can only barely recommend this movie just as a time waster.

Jeepers Creepers 2

The flying flesh eating gargoyle returns and attacks a stranded school bus full teenagers going to a basketball game. But hunting the creature is a farmer who wants vengeance for his son. While the first movie was thrilling at first then became a B-class monster movie, it's sequel at least stays on track as a monster outside the bus and anyone who ventures outside is eaten. (Wasn't this a South Park episode?) Anyway, the characters are the classic stupid teenagers, and the monster just picks them off one by one until the hero farmer arrives to kick some monster butt. The plot is simple and is more laughable then scary. The movie is not a total loss, it has "some" entrainment value, and I would only recommend it as a desperate renter.

American Splendor

based on the true story of a lonely file clerk named Harvey Pekar who wrote a comic book based on his life called American Splendor. If you've ever seen the movie "Crumb" then you must see American Splendor. In fact this movie is almost a sequel. The movie is funny and down to earth, Harvey's many quirks and how he looks at life make this movie enjoyable. If you ever happen to have read American Splendor comics then you'll get to see how his comic came to life and how the people in his life are as real as what's in the pages. The movie has a great Hollywood film/documentary feel, The real people the actors are playing appear as well telling their stories. I highly recommend American Splendor as a great character piece.

The Medallion

Jackie Chan plays a Chinese Cop who's after a smuggler who kidnapped a boy that possesses a Medallion that can give eternal life and super powers. In one of the worst Jackie Chan films ever made, Medallion has so many problems that this review could hours to read. The movie is mixed with American and Foreign film. While the story driven parts are American style, the action is dubbed and looks out of place with the rest of the adventure. The characters go beyond stupid, that you'll want to throw stuff at the screen. Many scenes don't make any sense, and the editing the US film with the Hong Kong film is so terrible you'll be confused at it's plot. Even Jackie Chan himself is not very entertaining, it's mostly bad special effects and not Jackie doing what he does best. I recommend avoid this movie and rent ANY other Jackie Chan film and forget this movie was ever made.

A gang of thugs who run a small town terrorize a group of cattle ranchers when they free graze their cattle near the small town. In one of the best westerns sense Unforgiven, Open Range has great characters, story and action. The high intense gunfight alone makes this movie a must see, it's not over played and fells more realistic most any other shootout that takes place on film. Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall and Annette Bening are award winning good. It's nice to see Costner back in the saddle with a great role again. Open Range is a must see for any one who's looking for a great gunslinger movie.

Freddy vs. Jason

When the children of Elm Street forget about Freddy due to drugs that make them not dream, Freddy loses his powers and can't kill teenagers anymore. He tricks Jason to go to Elm Street so he can kill the teens for him and bring back fear on Elm Street. The idea of Nightmare on Elm Street combined with Friday the 13th sounds like a terrible idea. But the movie is better then the last six Jason films. The story is more silly then frightening, but when Freddy and Jason go fist to cuffs against each other, the movie just becomes stupid fun. The "Teen Victim" characters are for the most part as dumb as most slasher flicks, they where just there to get to the good battle in the end. If you've seen all the Friday/Jason & Nightmare/Freddy movies, you'll get a kick out of seeing these two battle. Now if only a video game company would make a fighting game with all the Movie Maniacs. We can only dream.

But when an evil drug lord offers a 100 million reward to spring him from jail, the SWAT force have a lot to deal with when transporting the prisoner. While SWAT has a lot on entertaining action and the characters are interesting enough to keep the movie flowing. The plot is simple and is vary predictable that it's almost formula. It acts like a TV movie in most scenes. While yes SWAT is loosely based on an old TV series, it should have more plot twists and a better villain. Overall I'd lightly recommend SWAT just as a basic cop team buddy flick.

American Wedding

Jim and Michelle are planning the wedding of their dreams, But an uninvited Stiffler has plans of his own and may ruin everything. Wedding is a great addition to the American Pie series. The characters are still as funny as they where in parts 1 & 2. The plot is simple about two young people in love planning a wedding, but when you add the embarrassing moments of these characters, you just can't wait to see what will happen next. The adult humor that made American Pie great is still fresh and funny as the first. You'll laugh from the beginning until they say "I Do." Hopefully AW is not the last of the series, but if it is, they go out on top.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life

Lara Croft returns, this time she's after Pandora's Box with contains a plague that would wipe out most of the world which is located at the Cradle of Life. While Tomb Raider 2 is a small improvement from the first film, but it's still a thoughtless adventure when a very thin plot. Lara Croft is still bland and the action is mostly her showing off. The action feels like they turned on a God mode code, Lara has no weakness, The action is boring if the hero is in little danger. The story has many holes, the villain is bland, and you couldn't care less about her sidekick. I'd love to see Lara Croft become a Female Indiana Jones, but it looks like it's not going to happen.

Set in the early 1900's, when the USA is down from the market crash, an underdog horse becomes an unbeatable champion. But after both Jockey and Horse is injeried and told thay will never race again, they fight to prove them all wrong and return to the top. Seabiscuit is a must see for anyone who love horses. The story is not just about a horse, but how the human (and horse) spirit will get back on it's feet when it's knocked to the ground. The acting is all trophy winning, and Seabiscuit is a lovable character in his own way. The story will keep you entertained, you'll laugh, cry and be on the edge of your seat. My only complaint I could even give this movie is after his last race, there's nothing about what happens to the characters lives after this movie. A victory goes to Seabiscuit, a movie that's more then a simple horse racing story.

Bad Boys 2

A Cuban drug cartel is smuggling dangerous drugs into Miami and cannot be linked to being a drug lord. But the Bad Boys (Will Smith & Martin Lawrence) are determined to link him to several crimes and destroy his evil business While Bad Boys does not surpass the original film, it does hold up as a wild sequel. To plot is simple, an evil drug cartel who has his own army and hard to take down. What make Bad Boys work is Smith and Lawrence. While Smith make his character more enjoyable, Lawrence feels he's more along for the ride. The characters are funny and Will Smith make the movie work. The action is wild and thrilling and doesn't stray from blood and gore. If you like hamburger action movies from the early 90's you'll enjoy the action. The only complaints is the over the top ending. while the wild action is enjoyable, the ending is a tad unrealistic if almost impossible. But this aside, it's a great wild ride.

Johnny English

After all of British's top spies are killed, Johnny English is called to active duty to save his country. The inexperienced agent fakes his way to becoming a top spy. While the plot is down right stupid, it's Rowan Atkinson role as English that makes this film enjoyable. If you liked the movie "Bean" then you'll highly enjoy Johnny English. English is a bumbling fool who keeps screwing things up, then blaming it and everything but himself. This is where this movie is hilarious, Johnny trying to be the perfect spy, but instead looking like a fool. The movie is worth seeing if you just want some good laughs.

Pirates of the Caribbean

A young blacksmith joins a famous Pirate named Jack Sparrow to save a young madian from some evil cursed pirates who can not die. Pirates almost feels like a live action disney cartoon, In many ways this film work and is very enjoyable to watch. The quirky Jack Sparrow is the most fun character in the movie. The plot feels like an episode of Monkey Island. The story isn't as funny as Monkey Island, but still fun nonetheless. There are many campy part to the film, and some of the dialog is a tad dopey. Other then small distractions, they don't run the movie. Pirates is based after a ride at Disney world, but the movie doesn't lose it self trying to be a campy kids film. It's a fun movie that all can enjoy.

The League of Extraordinary Gentleman

Set in 1899, Seven legendary men and woman from some famous classic literature adventures join together to stop a madman from starting a world war. If you've always wanted to see the classic characters you read as a kid come together to save the world, this movie is for you. This movie feels like X-men set 100 years ago. The visuals are great and the plot is full of treats for those who've read the classics; Tom Sawyer, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Dracula, King Solomon's Mines, The Invisible Man, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Dr. Jekell & Mr. Hyde, Moby Dick & Sherlock Holmes. I'm sure there's more that where Missed. It's a great concept that works as a fun adventure. If you never read these classic tales, I recommend that you do. But if you haven't it won't run the movie.

But another reprogrammed Terminator follows "her" to the past to protect John Conner and a woman who becomes his second in command in the bleak future. Arnold is back, but sadly not better then before. T3 is a great wild action movie that will keep you glued to seat. Especially the car chase and the fight between Arnold and the T-X. The story is basically one big chase seine with a little plot of stopping the future, with a surprising ending. But unlike the first terminator's, T3 doesn't have the character development that make really care about them. People where sad when Arnold dies in T2, in T3 you really don't care. The T-X is no T-1000 in the villain department, she tries to act like the T-1000 but doesn't pull off the creepiness as Robert Patrick did. T3 is a fun wild action movie but is a step down from T2 and T1.

The whole plot of saving her little pup's Mom is worse then any blonde joke you've ever heard. 90% of the jokes are Barbie and Pink jokes that after a while you really get tired of. Even the supporting cast are as stupid as she is and there's not a lot that's funny when everyone is as dumb as the leading lady. You'll be lucky if you get off a few chuckles by the end of the picture. The plot is dumb, the characters are dumb and you'll feel dumb as well paying to see this movie.

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

The Angels are back and they are hired to retrive two rings that reveal everyone in the Witness Relocation Program. This movie hardly made a lick of sense. The movie has so many holes you can stick a school bus through them. It is supposed to be mindless fun, but the movie is so mindless and bad that it ruins any fun that can be had. CA:FT can even be original, they steal seines from other GOOD movies and copy them down to the camera angles, music etc. Bernie Mac replaces Bill Murray as Bosley, and all he does is tell stereotypic black jokes all through the film. The action is over the top ridiculous and seines don't even follow what's happening onscreen. Unless you just want to see some good looking girls kicking some butt, this movie offers nothing.

28 Days Later

A man wakes up from a Coma to find London is empty of human life, but soon discovers that a virus has turned most everyone into mindless zombies. he finds other survivors and together they must escape the city and find a British Army Outpost where they can be protected from the virus. In a story that could have been a good Resident Evil movie, 28 Days Later is a scary and smart horror (for the most part) It's not over the top silly or overacted. The plot is simple and realistic (at First). The first half of the movie is well written and creepy. The survivors escaping London is the best part of the movie. But the film gets lost when they reach the Soldier outpost. I can't go into the main reason this part of the movie was so terrible without spoiling it. So I'll just say the British Soldiers and how they acted was unnecessary, The movie takes a detour off the story to end the movie with these stupid soldiers. Then they continue the main plot with a quick explanation. I liked 28 Days Later, but would have loved it without those stupid soldiers. Nuff Said.

While not the worst comic book movie ever, it's vary slow moving and is vary bland. Hulk is vary animated looking, although when the Hulk appears it is somewhat enjoyable. The Director films the movie with a comic book style of editing that does not work with the serious dark characters. The dialog is bland and dull, and comic book plot is extremely weak. I can only barely recommend Hulk as a desperate renter.

The movie does nothing right, many jokes could have worked but missed by a long shot. They may have found a great Jim Carey look-a-like to play as Lloyd, but the real Jim Carey couldn't have saved this movie. The plot of the principle who creates a special Ed class is downright corny, and most of this movie is just a waste of space. The characters may be stupid, but this movie is dead. The movie follows every buddy cop cliche in the book. The plot is full of holes and uninteresting characters. The movie goes nowhere and has no payoff in the end. After a car accident, six people are stranded in the middle of the wilderness. After stumbling upon an old shack, they soon discover that a group of murderous inbred hicks live there and they are on a run for their lives as the hicks hunt them down. Does this plot sound familiar? Well, Rob Zombie had a film about killer inbred hicks this same year. And Wrong Turn made a better horror movie then that 1000 Zombies flick. While the story sounds laughable, it's actually a good thriller with a horror plot. The movie reminds me a lot of an episode of X-Files called "Home." The characters are not a bunch of stupid teenagers and they do think to survive. The movie is gory and will make you jump in your seat a few times. The movie isn't perfect though, The ending is like almost every other horror film. But this aside it's still better then any other horror out there, it will scare you instead of making you laugh.

He uses his power for his selfish needs, and never even tries to help others. Other then answer yes to everyone's prayers that is. I would have like to see this movie to have more laughs in the second half and seen the plot take different paths. It's lightly worth seeing just for the laughs at the beginning of the film.

But a high profile magazine reporter want to expose her by tricking her into falling in love with him. This is not your ordinary romantic comedy. It's a romantic comedy that spoofs classic 1960's comedies. The acting, the look, the fashion, the story, even the plot twist. While there are sexual innuendoes that would have never seen the screen back in 1960, the film for the most part is light campy comedy about relationships. You'll get a kick out of this movie if your a fan of 50's-60's romantic comedies, if your not, you'll just think it's overacted fluff. I can only lightly recommend Down With Love for classic movie fans.

Especially the Freeway car chase and the hundred Smith/Neo battle. These alone are worth the money to go see the movie. But in plot and story, there's a lot of holes and unexplained characters and plot points. Also the Zion part of the movie goes on way to long. While DDC is vary funny and will keep you laughing at two dads and a Fanboy taking care of a dozen kids. X2 is more focused in plot then the first one did, they don't overplay the story and the characters stay true to the comic book. Nightcrawler is one of the best additions to the series, no fan will be disappointed. Wolverine is still the main character in this series and he play to perfection by Hugh Jackman. There is also a hint to the next movie, and trust me X-Men fans will be happy. In comic book movies, X2 is second to only Batman. A movie that looks like it has a simple plot but has a twist in the end that will through you for a loop. My only complaint on the twist is they give it away a tad to early, but it doesn't ruin the plot. The film will keep you guessing everything until it hits you with a couple twists in the end. It's remarkable what is still intact inside the 90 year old reck. The only complaint on GotA is it's to short. The movie is about an hour long. and they barley cover the reck. I'd have love to see more of the Debris field, where the ship tore in half, and deeper in the ship if possible. If you like documentaries of our history, I highly recommend Ghosts of the Abyss. A group of traveling teens stumble upon a strange gas station/murder museum. They find out about a killer called "Dr. Satan" and they go investigating into his disappearance, only to find a family of inbread hick's who kidnap and torture their victims. This movie took over three years to get released because of it's gory content. Director Rob Zombie wanted a horror film that was terrifying and disturbing. While the images are highly disturbing and will get you to flinch at the gore, it's story, characters, editing and acting will make you cringe even more. There is not a single smart character in the entire movie. It's hard to care for any of the characters. There is no plot, just watching people get tortured and gory images is not entertainment. Rob Zombie also has flashes of strange images that are distracting, and many scenes are pointless should have been cut and the payoff in the end is depressing and cliche. The sniper's reasons for his terror is well thought out and plays God in a way he believes he's saving a man's soul. The only complaint about PB is it's ending. This is almost the same kind of film as Black Hawk Down. The Navy SEALS are forced to do the right thing and protect the innocent refugees. The Battles are intense and don't hold back. The Rebels are almost Nazi like in their ways of slaughtering the innocent. While TotS is nowhere as great as other "fact" war films, it still has a good message of doing the right thing. The battles in the movie where done well, but I wish they would show the horror of the war. The Civil War is known to be gory, but the film looks like it was written as a TV mini series. Jackie Chan's stunts are a blast to watch, while Owen Wilsons is funny, his character seems forced to return. It's Jackie Chan's adventure and Owen feels like baggage. This movie tries hard to be creepy and Terrifying, but it fails miserably. The killer ghost comes after a child's last tooth, but if the child sees her, she must kill everyone who sees her. When one kid escapes her by hiding in light. she kills all those that had NOTHING to do with seeing her. Every character is stupid and even the Tooth Fairy is stupid. The movie ends with a stupid ending that doesn't even make any sense. It's an hour and a half of people running around avoiding the dark and flashes of the monster flying around and grabbing people. This movie needs to be put in a dark corner and never see the light of day ever again.

National Security

After a cop sees his partner gunned down, A security guard ruins his career as a cop. (mainly because he failed as a cop himself) so the ruined cop becomes a security guard himself all while still hunting for the killer of his partner and the security guard that ruined him joins him in his hunt just so he can see some action. This movie goes nowhere fast. Martin Lawrence is annoying as the "White man is to blame" security gaurd, and his partner is bland and dull. The villians are boring, they where just bad guys because we say so. The action is mostly cars crashing through stuff and shooting at stuff. The plot is beyond stupid, vary predicable and has many holes. The movie tries to be funny but fails at it most every time. The only good moment was when they tried to take a womans car for a getaway. I'd have to say pass on National Security.

Just Married

A just married couple go on the honeymoon from hell, The bride is an upper class rich girl while the groom is exactly the opposite from her. They struggle to have a "memorable" Honeymoon but never get the chance. While Just Married is a likable movie, it just doesn't hold up as a good comedy. The characters a nothing original but they are fun to watch as they go through their vacation from hell. The laughs are far and few, there was only one really good joke and rest where lightly funny. I lightly recommend Just Married just as a fun date movie.
