Konami's deal with Universal Interactive last year has not been the power house I'm sure they hoped for. At least for the players anyway. The team has brought us such titles as The Grinch, Woody Woodpecker Racing (Shudder), and The Mummy.
Based on the vary successful 1999 movie from Universal. Konami's The Mummy game for Playstation looks half as good, and about as intelligent.

The game may be based on The Mummy, but it wants to be like Tomb Raider. Unfortunately the game looks and feels like a lazy effort. The graphics are weak. Our hero walks bull legged and is quite laughable. Too much pop up and low resolution also brings this game down.

The control could use some fine tuning. It has all the complucation Tomb Raider has only worse. Still, the game is not a total waste. I found myself playing it and enjoying it.

It may not have the quality behind it Tomb Raider has, but it does provide some decent action. If you're a Tomb Raider fan and have played all five Lara Croft games. You might want to give The Mummy a look. Maybe rent it before you buy it. I'm not sure its worth the average forty dollar price tag.
