PERFECT DARK

by Jay "THE FLEA" Wade

One of the best Nintendo 64 game that ever came out was Goldeneye, I first person shooter that played like no other. Now Rare has made a follow-up to on of the best game, and it's called Perfect Dark. You play a agent named Joanna Dark a spy in the future who's mission is to find information on the corporation "DataDyne". And the truth is deadly to all.

The gameplay is mostly the same action as Goldeneye was but with a little of Metal Gear Solid thrown in. You'll have all sorts of weapons and crazy gadgets, X-ray vision, robot cameras, night vision, plus more. Weapons are not all lasers, but mostly pistols, machine guns, rifles and explosives of all kinds. The enemy AI still is as smart as Goldeneye was, They notice noises and take cover. They can even hide and sniper you when your not looking.
There's tons of features in PD, the four player multiplayer, co-op modes, mission challenges and even a firing rage. Also tons of cheats and secrets to be uncovered.

The Graphics are some of the best ever seen on the N64, High rez and vary little slow frame rate. But you'll need a Expansion Pak to get the full experience on PD. Without one you'll only get less then 35% of the game. It's highly recommended you get one if you play this game.

The control takes a little getting used to on default controls. If your used to Goldeneye you can change the controls to match then you'll have no trouble at all.
The sound is top notch for a cartage based game. Great music and sound effects really make the game come alive. Enemies even scream "I don't wanna die" and "Why me!" as you shoot them. (Makes you feel sorry for them until they open fire on you.)
You still can make Head, Body, Arm and Leg shots. Shoot them in the leg make them limp, Shoot then in the head and they are out.

The levels are huge, form streets, hidden bases, buildings, mansions, and even Area 51. And they are quite challenging, puzzles that can have you stumped, Surrounded by snipers and even fly around on a hoverbike.
Rare has a great future series with Joanna Dark. This is a must own for anyone who owns a N64 and loved Goldeneye. Move over Bond, Her name is Dark.........Joanna Dark.
