I never really got into Quake 2 for the PC (I have played it) But I did give Q2 for N64 a go. And I must say it's pretty good, I was expecting an exact port over from the PC version. Some levels are similar to the PC but most are all new levels. In the game you play a space Marine out to kick some Cyborg butt. (there's the plot) Anyway like Doom it has all the scary elements and music to make you jump. But unlike Doom Q2 has more control and bigger puzzles to solve (lets not forget the giant bosses too)
Like most all first person shooters you get tons of weapons to blast the cyborg's into small pieces. including a Pistol, Shotguns, Machine and chain guns, Nail Gun, grenade and Rocket launchers, Plasma gun and of course the BFG (don't ask what it stands for) The default controls are hard to use but with a little re-tooling in the control options you'll have no problem. I kind of felt Q2 was a little short but when I look back at most first person shooters they too have under 20 levels.
The Multiplayer makes this game a blast, Hunt each other down and kill each other. It's not the best multiplayer in a N64 game maybe third after Goldeneye and Turok 2, but it still is worth playing. Overall Quake 2 is a great worth while game. If you loved Doom and Quake 64 then this is a must have, If your a big Quake 2 fan on the PC I'd say give it a try I think you'll like what you see.
