Now I love the classics, and many of the classics hits of yesterday have return in bigger and more advanced graphics then they could even think of in the days of the Atari 2600.
There's been; Pac-Man, Missile Command, Asteroids, Space Invaders, Frogger, and now of course Q*Bert. The new adventure of Q*Bert has become more of a puzzle game then classic arcade. And a VARY challenging one at that.
There's all the Classic characters; Q*Bert (duh), Colly, Ugg, Wrong Way, Slick, Sam and of course balls of all kind. There's no new bad guys just other helpful Q*whatever's. Mostly they give you hints or power-ups. That's a big new feature, There's all sorts of power-ups. Freeze, Bombs, Invincible, Destroy, Spells, even build new cubes.
Also added are Special cubes that can do most anything. (most of these are in 2-Player modes) Drop out from under you, create a enemy, change camera angles, reset all cubes, etc, etc...
The biggest complaint on Q*Bert is the control. The best way to use the controller is tilted to the right or left. But many times the player forgets and makes Q*Bert fall to his doom.
The Graphics are nothing special mostly simple blocks and a funky backdrop. (It's Q*Bert what do you expect?) And the sound effects and music are simple at best.
Also included is a 2-Player mode and a Classic mode. You can even change the graphics from 3D to the original 2D arcade. Q*Bert is a fun puzzle game, and if your looking for a challenging puzzle game then you might want to give Q*Bert a spin.
