The best off-road racing game for the Playstation was and always has ben Rally Cross. Perhaps until now. Rally Cross 2 is now available from 989 Studios for the Sony Playstation. Rally 2 has more cars, tracks, and better customizable features than ever before. For instance, you can configure the color of your ride to your own liking. Also, a new track builder is awesome too. You will never have to get tired of the existing race tracks. Returning from the original Rally Cross is the reverse and suicide modes. in Suicide Mode you race your off-road vehicle head on into on coming traffic. Its hard but a lotta fun. Visually, Rally Cross 2 is a delight. The graphics are smooth and detailed. I love a game with some good detail. For example, unlike some other off-road racers in the past Rally Cross 2 actually has their cars get dirty after rolling through the mud. Its just what I was asking for. Rally Cross 2 continues its awesome control style. Only better cause now its Dual-Shock analog controller compatible. So is Rally Cross 2 the perfect game? No. Its weak link is in the music. The music and sound effects don't match the sharp quality of the original. The music is dull and unfulfilling, the sound effects are nice, but I don't feel it this time out. A bit disappointing if you ask me. I have to admit While others were anticipating the releases of Metal Gear, GameDay '99, or Twisted Metal III, I was eagerly awaiting the release of this the follow up to Rally Cross. I must say with all the added features, the improved graphics and control, the car selection, with the exception of the sound I am fully satisfied with this Rally Cross update.
