RATCHET & CLANK:
GOING COMMANDO

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

Insomniac and Naughty Dog are a lot alike. They both created classic platformers for
the PSone. They were both Created by Universal games and released through Sony.
Their characters Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon became mascots for that system.
Unfortunately, Universal decided they wanted to split off from sony and do their own thing.
However, Sony kept the studios which made the game. And both games became mediocre
titles on the PS2 without their original creators. Hmm, too bad. The last thing that makes
them alike, is their first PS2 titles. Jak And Daxter for Naughty Dog. And Rachet and Clank
for Insomniac. Both wonderfully new breeds of platform games which feature a duo.
Both of which have sequels to their smash hits last year.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, this is a review for Rachet and Clank: Going Commando.
And much like Jak II, this sequel is better than the original. The diffence between the
original and Going Commando is smaller here than between Jak 1 and 2. However,
its still better, and is an awesome title. Rachet and Clank is a lot like Jak, but with a few differences.
One Rachet uses more weapons. Yes, Jak II offers more weapons then in his previous game,
but Clank is totally weapon based. Rachet don't jump on no baddies. He don't play that.
Two, Rachet is played for laughs. Jak has a lot of humor, but Jak II takes it self more seriously this
time around. While, Clank, is total fun for fun sakes.

Rachet and Clank was so memorable for its wacky weapons. Going Commando, is no different.
Both Jak II and Rachet 2 create beautiful worlds. I mean, i would like to visit these worlds.
It's the smallest things that make these graphics the best. For instance, when Rachet exits a large
space craft in flight, a face mask appears. Isn't that cool? I mean, how many time did
Sonic run on the out side of some space ship, and he was dressed only in his skivies.
The game play is just fantastic in Rachet and Clank. If you've played the original, you know what I mean.
If not, well...Just imagine the smoothest and most accurate game play a platformer could have.
Targeting is perfect. Camera angles are controllable, but I don't feel the need. This game is addicting.
There is so much to do, its not incredibly frustrating, and there are just tons of weapons to earn.
I look forward to each new cut scene. Its so humerus, the FMV doesn't just give you a breather in between levels.
Its just as entertaining. Bottom line, Rachet and Clank: Going Commando is an awesome
game for the holidays. Add Jak II, and you will have all the entertainment the family needs for the holidays.
