RESIDENT EVIL 2 (REGULAR & DUAL SHOCK)

RE2

by Jay "THE FLEA" Wade

One of the best games returns in Resident Evil 2 Original and Dual Shock versions. First I'll tell you about the game it self then move on to what's been added in the dual shock version. Now I loved the original Resident Evil and played it to death. Then when RE2 came out it was a must have! I was not disappointed. In the game you play as ether Leon Kennedy (a rookie cop) or as Claire Redfield (Chris' Sister) and the whole town of Raccoon City is Dead (Living Dead that is) Not only the classic Dogs & Human Zombies (which look 10 times better then the 1st RE) Return but also new creatures that will really make you jump out of your seat.

RE2 is now 2 disc's one has Leon's Mission the other has Claire's and when you beat the 1st mission you get to play a same mission but from the other characters point of view. So if you start with Claire and finish her mission, you now can play Leon's version. That's not all, if you start with Leon first then Claire it will change the whole plot of the story. So all together you have to beat it 4 times to see it all. (And that's not including the secret missions) Weapons include a handgun, shotgun, magnum, (these three can be upgraded) crossbow, grenade launcher, uzi, and of course the secret weapons Chaingun and Rocket Launcher. (Whoo Hoo!) The Graphics are some of the best I've ever seen in a PSX game. And Capcom has left no detail untouched. The music and sound are all done to make you fell like your lost within the game, and scare the crap out of you at the right time.

The control is done just like the first RE which I never had any problem with, but some others might have to get use to the control. Now let's talk about the Dual Shock version. What different? Well besides the Dual Shock feature (the controller rumbles) the only thing I can see that's new is a new feature called EX Mode, and in this feature you can play not only Leon & Claire but also Ada Wong & Chris Redfield. You pick a character and have to search four bombs before time runs out. (and kill zombies on the way)

While this is a lot of fun, I was disappointed they cut a few features when the final version came out. Like getting to view (and maybe play) the original RE2 before they trashed it and started over again. (I've seen the original RE2 and trust me it looked pretty bad) Over all Resident Evil 2 is a MUST HAVE for your collection. If you never played RE2 then get the Duel Shock version you'll get more for your money. If you already played RE2 and are thinking about getting the Dual Shock version, I'd say if you a HUGE RE fan then yes.
