RESIDENT EVIL 4

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

Resident Evil reinvented the video game genre about ten
years ago. Now, its ready to reinvent itself. Resident Evil
4 is exclusively (for now) on Nintendo’s Gamecube. If you
like the way they remade the original on Gamecube or even
Zero, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Resident Evil 4 is the
baddest thing this side of Mario.

Resident Evil 4 is unlike any of the previous installments.
First off, there is no Zombies. Period. This is a
Zombieless Resident Evil. Interesting, huh? When I first
heard there wasn’t going to be zombies in this game, I was
like..Forget it. That’s suicide. You can’t have a Resident
Evil game without our flesh eating buddies. Well, you can
and they did. Instead of zombies, we have an island full of
inbred hillbillies that would make Ned Beatty squeal like a
pig. These folk are so degenerated, they might as well be
zombies. And what’s even creepier, is it feels more real
this way. Its actually scarier then zombies. Cause sure
everyone knows, knew, or have seen people like this in
their town. Seriously.

The other major change is the way its played. The
perspective is completely different. The camera stays
behind you and your gun has a laser sight on it for
targeting purposes. When I first read about this, I figured
they just single handedly ruined Resident Evil. Once again,
I was wrong. This is SO much better. They should have done
this a long time ago. Resident Evil 4 has a much faster
pace to it, now and gone are the hideous camera angles that
plagued the Resident Evil in the past.

The graphics are completely redesigned and are sharper than
ever. This game really shows off the Gamecube’s technology
and what its truly capable of. The plot is complicated and
I’m under a gag order for. However, I will say this. I was
completely addicted to this game and would not, could stop
playing it til I beat it. Its that good.

Resident Evil 4 is by far one of the best games for 2005.
Great story, great graphics, great playability, just a well
rounded game all around. I rate it a perfect. It’s a modern masterpiece.
