RESIDENT EVIL: CODE VERONICA

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

The long awaited Resident Evil for Dreamcast is finally here. Resident Evil: Code Veronica picks up after part 2 with Claire Redfield searching for her missing brother Chris on a remote military island where further testing on the dreaded T-virus which destroyed Raccoon City is being conducted.

Known as "the real Resident Evil 3", Code Veronica provides players with two GD's worth of the same gameplay they've come to love while giving us brand new 128 bit sharp graphics. Does this game push the Dreamcast's limits? No, but this game looks great regardless. The opening alone is worth the price of admission. In the game you play Claire for the most part with Chris and a new comer named Steve in supporting roles.

Because this one takes place on an Island, were given a whole new world to explore. However, you may find yourself missing the ruins of Raccoon City and wondering how influence Dino Crisis had on this game.

The sound quality is top notch. Every paper and bug on the ground can be heard. The sound effects however are right out of any Playstation Resident. The fine detail on the backgrounds is an A+. The addition of bugs crawling around the interiors is a nice touch.

Resident Evil's control ports over nicely to the Dreamcast's controller. The VMU features a constant status on ones health.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica is a must have for any mature Dreamcast user. This game may accomplish something no other game has yet to fully establish...A system seller.
