Every one want's to be the next Gran Turismo, Well I'll tell you right now it doesn't beat GT by a long shot. But it is still a great racing game in it's own ways. In the game you start out with about 4 cars and win tournaments to earn up to 80 cars each having 4 versions (Team paint jobs and top speed) so all together about 320 cars (and a secret one) None of the cars in this game are real manufacture cars. Just made up look alike's at best, and others look like rockets, tanks or something out of a Blade Runner movie. But most all the cars are done vary well and RR4 has plenty of replay just to earn all the cars.
The control is done quite well and the Graphics look excellent (along with Namco's beautiful FMV) but a major flaw in RR4 is no upgrading the cars, no shocks, tires, engines nothing. Another cool feature is you can create your own design and place it on the hood, but I wish you could design the whole car and not just the hood. All the tracks look beautiful, with little pop-up and look as good as GT.
Also included is a second disc with Ridge Racer Turbo, This is no demo disc, but a full game. (there's even secret cars to open on it to) Ridge Racer Type 4 is defiantly the best in the Ridge Racer series. And if you beat GT and are looking for another racing game to play for hours on end, I suggest you give Ridge Racer Type 4 a try.
