If you ever played the original Silent Hill on PSX you’ll most likely agree that it was the scariest game ever made. Now the long awaited sequel has been released on Playstation 2.
The story begins about a man named James who gets a letter from his wife who died three years earlier.
She asks him to go to Silent Hill and meet up with her. So he goes and finds the town is ruins and undead mutants have taken over the town.
He also finds a few survivors, A woman who looks similar to his wife, a fat uncaring slob and a little girl.

The gameplay is just like the original SH, and the music and sound effects will have you shaking in your boots every time you enter a new room.
There is a shortage of ammo, so it’s best not to go blasting everything you see. Try to get used to using the mallee weapons on most creatures.

The graphics are top notch, but the foggy fuzzy overlay sometimes makes it hard to see what’s going on or where your going.
I guess this is supposed to add to the scare factor. While the character graphics are nice, they do have a porcelain doll look about them. Similar to way Shadow of Destiny did.

The characters are all voice acted which is both good and bad, good when they deliver the lines right but bad when they talk like they are reading a book and have a learning disorder.
The story and plot is really confusing, by the time your finished with the game you have more questions then answers.
There are multiple endings just like in SH1 and many secret items to find once you beat the game. This really adds to the replay value. You’ll have to beat the game several times to see everything.
Also adding to the replay is the puzzle difficulty.
Once you beat the game on Easy puzzles, you can play again on normal or hard and the puzzles will have different riddles and solutions.
I do recommend SH2 for some good scares, just expect a confusing story and dopey dialog.
