On a dark lonely night, Harry Mason and his daughter Charyl drive along a high way only to see a woman in the middle of the road. Harry swerves to avoid hitting her but ends up crashing his car, Knocking him unconscious. Harry wakes up later and finds Charyl missing and enter the town of Silent Hill to find her. Only to find the town empty, Except for 4 strangers and demons of all types. Okay now that I explained the story I'll get into the game itself. This is a Real nightmare. This is truly the most horrifying game I ever played on the PSX. With some visuals that are truly unique and disturbing. The sound just makes your heart pound thru out the game, with unexpected crashes, screams, laughs and bumps in the night. There's not a ton of weapons, all thou there are enough. Most are hand to hand weapons like an Axe, Hammer and Lead Pipe. The puzzles are vary challenging and if you don't use a guide some will really test your mind. There's large maps to explore and several secrets to uncover. Another great feature is multiple endings, Five that I have found so far. This make a good replay value. Another complaint is the story, This plot is so confusing I'm not sure what happens in the end. They leave a lot of unanswered questions even if you see all five endings. The control is a lot like Resident Evil in many ways. In fact the whole game is a lot like RE. So you RE fans might want to try this game. I personally Like RE2 better overall but this game is worth buying.
