SOUTH PARK: CHEF'S LUV SHACK

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

Acclaim Entertainment was so proud when they received the rights to produce games based on Comedy Central's South Park series. First up was a goofy humorous take on the first person shooter simply titled South Park. Not an all bad game. It was funny, and entertaining. So what's next up for South Park games? A trivia party game called South Park: Chef's Luv Shack for Playstation, N64, and Dreamcast.

This game is not only terrible, its not even funny. Chef's Luv Shack is a truly poor attempt at an "You Don't Know Jack" take off. You can't spoof something that is already a spoof. The game features South Parks own womanizing Chef character hosting a quiz show where the only prize is to spend a night with him. That's suppose to be funny due to the contestants are only to be swim suit models. Unfortunately there are no swim suit models in South Park, Colorado. So they substitute the kids from South Park elementary. Enter the playable characters. Stan, Cartmen, Kyle, and Kenny.

The game consists of trivia questions followed by bonus games. If there is trivia, perhaps we can learn something by playing this game. Absolutely not says Acclaim. Chef's Luv Shack doesn't even provide the correct answer if you miss the question. This leaves the player frustrated and confused. The bonus games are insane. Such games as Spank the Monkey, Eat This, Frog Toss, Tug Oh War and more. Insane is to be expected from South Park, but these games are boring. The graphics are poor. South Park is not known for great animation, but this game finds a way to make it worse. The sound quality is pathetic. Characters sound like their talking in a tunnel. The Playstation version is bogged down with loading.

South Park: Chef's Luv Shack is suppose to be a party game, but this one will kill any party after one play.
