Okay everyone hum the James Bond theme or Peter Gun theme as you read this review.
Your a spy, hunting down and destroying the plans to a evil power hungry madman.
You use a special car that has every weapon in the book, and even transforms into a boat and motorcycle.
This game reminds me a lot of another spy racing game, 007 Racing.
While that game was sub-par, Spy Hunter has a lot more to offer. Based on a classic arcade game from the Atari 2600 days, you race a car and shoot enemy cars and objects brfore reaching the finish line.

The graphics are quite impressive, the car looks great and tracks have a lot of obstacles to avoid or destroy.
The control is okay, but some targets are hard to see and you have to stop and target it to destroy it.
Also the one button attack and one for defence is a little tricky. It needs primary and secondary attack buttons and the defense button as a third. Insted your switching from machine gun and missiles all the time, your getting blasted by the bad guys from the front while your targeting a missile at a tower on top of a hill.
Some ammo and health pick-ups would have been a nice touch too. There is a truck that repairs the car and reloads all the weapons but it appears usually once per mission. Also a weapon select would have been nice to, insted of being stuck with what ever they programed to use for that level.

In each track there’s objectives to complete, they range from four to seven objectives.
You can only open new tracks by completing objectives. So if you only complete the primary objective you may win the mission, but you still didn’t open the next track due to it needs two more objective points.

There is a two-player mode, its basically racing against each other and shooting down your opponent.
But in order to play two player mode, you must complete all objectives in operations mode. So your friend will have to wait until you beat the entire level before he can play against you.
While Spy Hunter isn’t perfect it is a fun race and shooter. I would recommend renting Spy Hunter first to see if it’s up to speed for you. But if you loved 007 Racing, Spy Hunter is a game you’ll want to see.
