STAR WARS: SUPER BOMBAD RACING

by Jay "THE FLEA" Wade

The Star Wars franchise has gone to far. first person shooter, great. Starship combat games, excellent. Arcade action, that was fine. Vehicle combat was fine. Even the fighting game was okay.
But a kart racer? All to coolness of Star Wars is out the window in this game.

The characters are cute big headed in tiny vehicles and kart race in tracks in the Star Wars worlds.
Default characters include; Anakin, Darth Maul, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Amadala, Selbuba, Boss Nass and of course the ever annoying Jar Jar Binks. There’s also secret characters. Some from the classic series.

The graphics are colorful but vary silly looking. The tracks are goofy and weapons are dull.
The game has a slow feel to it, most all the characters have no get up and go.
The Turbo is a meter that you can fill by power ups, but it doesn’t last long. You’ll have a full meter and you speed up for 2 seconds if your lucky.

The Music and sounds like its mocking Star Wars, wacky beats and sound effects really makes the game feel like a Power Rangers episode then a classic Sci-Fi movie.
Lucas Arts made the game for young Star Wars fans, while the game is playable. You might even get a laugh or two. It just doesn’t have a lot to offer for a kart racer.
If your looking for a good kart racer, I’d still say Crash Team Racing is tops.
If your looking for a good Star Wars racer, if you own a N64 or DC Star Wars: Episode I racer is best bet. And a lot cheaper to.

I’m really getting tired of the kart racing fad. If it’s a famous series, im sure it will become a kart racer sometime soon. Just to bad Star Wars got dragged into it.
