STAR WARS: JEDI STARFIGHTER

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

For those of you who just saw Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones and wish to play a game based on it immediately. You can.
Lucas Arts released the first Star Wars game based on Episode II. Its called Jedi Starfighter, which is actually a sequel to Star Wars Star Fighter from last year. Got it? Good.
As you know already, but I will repeat for the sake of argument. Star Wars Star Fighter as if you couldn’t guess, is a mission based space battle game where you play various ships from Episode I.
Much like Nintendo’s Rouge Squadron games, or the classic X-Wing and Tie Fighter games. Okay, okay, no one reading this has probably ever played those.

In Star Wars Jedi Star Fighter, you get to play the new Jedi Star Ship, as seen in Episode II.
Oh, by the way, its Force Powered, since the movie forgot explian that to us. I’m not fanboy, really, I promise.
Jedi Star Fighter dazzles us with spectacular graphics and scenery. This is some of the best shots of space I have ever seen in a game.
The game does not completely follow the movie’s story line, but it does imitate portions of it. This it does, yes.

The sound is THX quality if you got it. Truly awesome. Places you right in the action.
As in the original Star Fighter, the missions aren’t always easy. Rewarding, yes. Easy, absolutely not. In fact its borderline frustrating at times. It makes me wanna just cut someone’s arm off with my light saber . . . if I had one that is.
The control is just as good as the original. You don’t even have to have the force on your side to play it. It probably would help, but not necessary.

I really enjoy Star Wars games. Being a fan helps, I’m certain. However, not all Star Wars games are good. Remember Masters of Teras Kasi? Okay, I did find some enjoyment from that game. What about Super Bombad Racing? I don’t think anybody found that game entertaining. I’m still waiting for someone to explain that one to me.
Star Wars Jedi Star Fighter is worth the ticket for admission, whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not. It beats a Colony Wars game any day of the week. Or a Star Trek game!
Okay, that was a low blow, I know. Jedi Star Fighter is the first of many Episode II games to come, I’m sure.
I just hope they come up with a game portraying Yoda’s kick ass fighting skills.
On that note, this review is over. May the force be with you, young padawan.
