STAR WARS: OBI-WAN

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

The first original star wars game for the Xbox is here. Its based on Episode 1 and it stars Obi Wan.
Its called Stars Wars: Obi-Wan. Simple, yet effective.
To understand the game. Think Jedi Power Battles with better control, better graphics, with fewer characters to play.
Honestly, i don't think Obi Wan has the best graphics in the world.
Don't get me wrong, they look good, but I know the Xbox is capable of more.
That's okay though, Lucas Arts games have never been known for state of the art graphics.
However, Star Wars Obi-Wan provides us with the most effective light saber control I have ever seen.
Analog one controls the movement of Obi-Wan, while Analog number two controls his light saber. It really works well.
You can perform combos, or combine your light saber skills with the force and look out baddies.
Obi-Wan can use the force to make his blows stronger, levitate items, or destroying battle droids.

Okay, I've mentioned a lot of good stuff about this game. However there is a downside, and it is a big one. The acting talent is well, talentless.
They do bad impressions of Ewan Mcgregger and Liam Neison. I mean BAD impressions. The acting is so horrible it makes Resident Evil look, well . . . Resident Evil still has bad acting.
The acting doesn't take anything away from the gameplay. Its just annoying and quite laughable.
The story isn't important anyway. After the first level it seems to follow the Episode 1 story anyway.

Star Wars Ob-Wan also offers a fighting mode.
You earn different Jedi's throughout the story mode.
Once earned, you can choose them as a character in the battle mode.
Basically a weak fighting game. None the less, its still kind of cool, given the light saber control. And yes, Darth Maul is a secret character.

For the first Star Wars exclusive game on the Xbox, I think its great.
Maybe it won't win any awards or even be remebered in years to come, assuming Xbox has years to come.
Never the less, it's a fun game. I enjoyed this game intensely, and I think any true Star Wars fan will.
This game fulfilled a great dream of mine. To weald a light saber like a Jedi, use the force against evil doers like a Jedi, and fight like a great Jedi.
This is not just a game, it's a Jedi simulator. Fulfill your Jedi dreams.
