The biggest movie hits of the summer has become a video game. Now I've always been a Star Wars fan and was really looking forward to this game. You play as one of four characters in different levels. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Captain Panaka or Queen Amidala. (Sorry Darth Maul and Jar Jar Binks are not playable) The game follows the movie's story. From the beginning on the starship fighting Battle Droids and Destroyer Droids to the end fighting Darth Maul.
Most of the game play is battle, shoot and exploration. You search for new weapons, talk with people you encounter and kill Battle Droids by the thousands. (and a few Gungans here and there) In fact you can kill any body you encounter. You want to kill Jar Jar Binks? Go right ahead, Although the game will end due to your hate for Jar Jar.
Jedi abilities include bouncing laser bolts off your saber into the enemy, using the force to knock all enemies down and special saber attacks.
The Graphics are done well, but do tend the fall apart when any close-ups appear. The Control is done well, but the at times it's hard to jump to platforms. Also there's glitches where you jump in the wrong place and you fall off the screen.
Don't expect to pilot any vehicles in Star Wars TPM, no Pod Racing level or Battling in Naboo Fighters. This is a disappointment but the game still hold up. The characters all speak real voices but they are not done by the same actors as in the movie. Most are imitated quite well but others sound so fake.
I would have like to have seen more secrets in this game, like after you beat it you can play secret characters like Jar Jar Binks, Darth Maul and play any character on any level. But it doesn't ruin the replay to much.
Overall this game is a good Movie adaption, and any Star Wars episode I fan will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
