If Gran Turismo is the best racing simulator, for true driving fans. A game that takes time and a bit of a brain to play.
Than Test Drive is the best racing game for those of us who don't have the attention span or the patients to play Gran Turismo correctly.
Infogrames has just released the latest Test Drive game on PlayStation 2. The first in this long running series for the PS2 actually.
I guess that's why they feel the title should lack the number seven. For those of you who have forgotten already, the last Test Drive game was Test Drive 6 for the PSone and Dreamcast.
This is also the first time Atari has produced the game. Yes Atari, the same company that brought us such 80's classics as Night Driver, and Pole Position.

Test Drive (7) is an awesome game. It combines the excellent graphics of Gran Turismo and the cop chases of Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit.
Test Drive (7) rips its concept right off the screen of last summers (for some unknown reason) blockbuster The Fast and the Furious.
It depicts an underground society of die hard racers who race each other for honor and money. This is how you earn more cars of course.
It's a fine and coincidently timely, just after that blockbuster movie. Funny, isn't it?

Test Drive's graphics may not be as good as GT3, but damn, its close.
However, the character graphics in story mode is weak. A sock puppet has better facial expressions.
Which is really my only complaint about the game. Well, that and the cop cars only chase after you.
Sure everybody in the race is doing 150 going the wrong way, but I'm the only guilty one.
It would be nice if a cop busted a computer player once in a while. Just a thought guys!

Test Drive (7) features a ton of music from such recognizable artists as Jarule and Moby.
So get your body rocking and hop in a ride for the race of a lifetime.
Okay, maybe I'm overselling it.
It's a good game worth bypassing the rental store to the local game store and outright purchasing this game.
