TRIPLE PLAY 2002

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

Who was the greatest sports broadcaster? Well a lot would say Howard Kosel or maybe Marv Albert. There is no denying those great talents. For this generation though, I think of Bob Costas. An NBA game just isn't the same without Bob, I think.
I never would have thought a man of his talent and stature would ever do a video game. I figured it would cost the game producers too much, or it wouldn't appeal to a broadcast legend. Except for Bob has kids, and his kids play games. Hmmm . . . Thank God for kids.
Bob Costas is the new announcer for Triple Play Baseball 2002 from EA Sports. I love baseball, and I love Triple Play Baseball. I have always liked Triple Play best.
I always felt the EA announcers were humorous, and more then adequate. However the added talent of Bob is only an improvement on perfection.

Triple Play 2002 once again has the best graphics and playability of any baseball game thus far.
Obsessed fans have said that Triple Play isn't realistic enough. I don't see it.
Its only a video game people, it does what its suppose to do. Entertain us. Allow us to be Sosa, Bonds, Thomas, or whoever you want to be.

Triple Play has always had the best and most simplistic control system I have ever seen in any baseball game.
Anybody can pick up a control and play it. pull up the homerun derby and its party game.
Graphically, this game is stunning. Look, I've been to Wrigley field, and that IS Wrigley field in the game. Its amazing.
The players have an all new realism to them too. The downside is the homerun clips are the same over and over.
Same guys, same reactions. Not a big issue, but it loses its pizzaz after a couple of homies.

Triple Play 2002 is also available on Microsoft's Xbox. Its basically the same game, with slightly higher resolution graphics. If you have an Xbox, I would choose Triple Play for a baseball game over World Series Baseball.
In conclusion, if you are a baseball fan and play video games. Triple Play 2002 is the baseball game for you. It will take you through the World Series and beyond.
