TRICK'N SNOWBOARDER

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elloitt

Capcom has done it again. Its, not another Street Fighter game, nor Mega Man or Resident Evil. Its another snow boarding game. Capcom's earlier attempt at the snow boarding craze was Freestyle Boardin' '99 from earlier this year. It wasn't exactly what you would call a classic.

Capcom had decided to try again, with Trick'N Snowboarder. A much improved effort. Graphics are sharper, characters are larger, and control is wonderful. Trick N' Snowboarder provides most of the same features you would find in any snowboarding games. Plus, a nice hidden feature where you can play as one of three Resident Evil 2 characters. Play as Leon, Claire, or a Zombie. At title screen, press TRI, TRI, X, X, SQU, O, SQU, O.

The other regular boarders selectable are no names, much like Freestyle Boardin' was. The scenery is grand. The snow and ice effects are more believable this time around. The levels are awesome here. Japan features a Sun set shining across the land, Argentina's slopes are extreme, steep, and fast. To conquer these hills, slopers must earn enough points by performing outrageous stunts. The tricks in this game are easy to perform. Capcom is legendary for combos, and Trick N' Snowboarder is no different. Perfrom multiple tricks to rack in the points.

This boarders sound quality is not tops in its field, but these rock'n tunes are enough to keep one playing. Control is where this game really shines. Graphics are nice, the selection is average, the score is good, but the control is smoothe and quick reacting.

In the field of Playstation snowboarding games Cool Boarders, now on its fouth installment, will continue to be the best. Capcom's Trick N' Snowboarder, or TS as it wants to be known, is no longer the joke Freestyle Boardin' '99 once was. This is a good game. Its fun, features great levels, and looks good too. The snowboarding game genre has not reached overkill yet, there's just a good selection to choose from.
