UM JAMMER LAMMY

by Jay "THE FLEA" Wade

I remember seeing a preview to a game called Parappa the Rapper and laughed it it thinking that it was the silliest thing I ever saw. Then I got the game and had a lot of fun playing a rapping dog.
Sure it was goofy and silly but it was music and unique look that this game had that held it together. ( "Chop, Chop it's all in the mind..." I had that song in my head for weeks.)

When you beat the game you get a message saying "Parappa the Rapper 2 coming soon" Well Um Jammer Lammy is no sequal more of a spin-off.
How does it stack up to Parappa? Vary well I might add. This time you play as Lammy. The lead guitarest to the band Milk Can, She wakes up and finds she has only twenty mintues to get to her concert and on her way all sorts of weird people get in her way and and she plays her way out.
And let me tell you, some of these levels are really weird.

The game play is about the same as Parappa but insted of rapping you play a guitar to the levels song. The rhytym bar is hard to keep up with at times but it makes it vary challenging.
Your still rated on your performance and have to keep it at "Good" or "Cool" to pass the level. When you get the "Cool" rating you get to play on your own and if you play good you stay at "Cool". The graphics are a little better the Parappa and still have that weird flat paper thin look.

Lammy offer much more then Parappa did. 2-player vs. mode, 1-player vs the computer and special items you earn to add new sound effects to your guitar. The music is as silly and catchy as Parappa was. This game is worth a rental if not owning.
