Remember those great B-grade science fiction monster movies from the fifties and sixties?
King Kong, Godzilla, Them, and even Invasion From Mars. Sure they were stupid, but didn't you ever wonder who would win if an Ant from “Them” fought King Kong?
Well, now you can find out. Sony Computer Entertainment and Insomniac has put together a cast of some of the greatest monsters ever to attack our planet.
War of the Monsters is a two player all out brawl between intergalactic, nuclear, monsters through the streets and buildings of Earth.
Its from the makers of Twisted Metal Black, so you might wanna look at it as Twisted Metal sixty stories high.

First of all I wanna say this game is a blast to play.
Just the sight of a giant gorilla fighting a giant mantis through a very public city is awesome.
These guys crash thriugh buildings, smash helicopters, and fling city buses through the air like toys.
The graphics don't let us down either. You will either jump out of your seat in excitement, or fall out of your seat in laughter.
War of The Monsters is what I'd call a thumb sprainer, A button pusher, button basher, whatever.
A game where even the most inept gamer can win a battle if he pounds the buttons quicker than his opponent.
Sure, there monsters have special moves and combos that can and should be learned if you wanna master the game. Unfortunately, not nessacary.

If the makers of this game made one BIG mistake, it was not including a four player mode.
In the end, War of the Monsters works best as a multiplayer game. Two is great, but four would be incredible.
Designers should realize that gamers do buy the multitap and do want games to utilize it.
War of the Monsters could be an awesome party game.
The game does have plenty of replay value for you single players. There are secret characters and levels to earn plus each character has three additional secret skins. One of them is Sweet Tooth . . . Shhhhh.
Multitap aside. I think War of the Monsters is a great fighting game. It offers great graphics, plenty of characters and levels, plenty of secrets, and plenty of fun.
Two MONSTER size thumbs up from me!
