WWF SMACKDOWN!

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

Question: Can you smell what the Rock is cooking? Answer: a brand new WWF title on Playstation worth coming home for. THQ's first WWF title for Playstation is also their first wrestling game worth playing. After numerous WCW let downs THQ put the Smack Down on their old programming team and has knocked the Playstation wrestling genre on its ear. WWF Smack Down has thrown the rules book away started from scratch. Long gone are the slow moving characters of yesterday. Smack Down provides fast characters producing more action per second, just like the fans demand.

Graphics are very realistic. besides the sometimes choppy animation these guys and gals of the WWF move genuinely life like.
Each wrestler has his/her own full motion video entrance, and all their famous moves. Most of your favorite WWF stars are here such as The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mankind, and many more.

The sound is much different then anything were use to as well. Smack Down has removed the commentators of rock music. Nothing wrong with that, it just takes the realism away from the presentation.
Until now most WWF fans have played the titles produced by Acclaim which feature a combo based control system. THQ has always preferred a more simpler control style known as the one touch. This system allows both new and veteran players to catch on quickly. Don't try to produce any combo's here you'll only randomly attack air.

WWF Smack Down is loaded with features. Create a Pay-Per-View, Create a Superstar (Which basically consists of switching wrestlers heads and bodies around with a few custom designs supplied by THQ.), Cage Matches, Survivor, and lots more.
WWF Smack Down is by far the best wrestling game THQ has ever made on the Playstation and could be the best wrestling game on Playstation period. That would depend on your tastes in wrestling organizations. The Rock says this is the best...We best better listen to him.
