X2: WOLVERINE'S REVENGE

by Wyatt "JOEDOG" Elliott

X2 is clearly one of this summers best movies. It surpassed the first one and definitely deserves its own tie in game.
Thankfully, Activision had already thought of that. So, enter X2: Wolverine's Revenge for all systems including Nintendo Gamecube.
Its not a game based on the movie, but a game that adds a back story to the movie.
The game starts with Wolverine as the Weapon X experiment. Escape from the military facility and your path to self discovery begins.

Wolverine's Revenge is not a great game by far. Graphics are standard fair. The control is also pretty standard.
However, I still found this game intriguing. I think because it puts you in the shoes of a guy like Logan.
Let's face it, He's everyone's favorite bad boy who is a good guy.
No other X-men game has really given you the feeling of being Wolverine, than this one.
Of course many X-men related games have been out where you play as Wolverine, but never allowed access to the mind.
Maybe I'm looking deeper than most players would, and perhaps I'm seeing something that isn't really there.
Maybe I just wanted the movie to continue on. Whatever the reason, I found myself liking this game. Even though, at times its extremely frustrating.

The cut scenes can get a little corny. The animation is not the best. I think its suppose to look like a comic book or something. Either way, its only okay.
The control is pretty good. You can play smart, stealth, or just let your rage go ballistic as you shred some poor dude.
I liked the many different moves and combos along with special moves you can do when your rage is at its peak.
Oh, those are cool. Its just like the scene in X2 at the mansion. You know what I mean.

So in closing, X2: Wolverine's Revenge is a good Game. Just not a great one.
Kinda like a lot of this summers movies. If you're an X fan, I presume you'll enjoy this outing.
If not, and you just looking for a good action game. I'd rent it, and see if it's claws digs into you or not.
Its not revolutionary, its not great, but it is Wolverine, and it is good.
